Hello Tabatha,
Had my surgery on March 31st, 2003, so far have lost a total of 33lbs, eating afterwards does change, sounds like your doctor is putting you on a protein based diet which does work. You will find at first for a least the first week you will drink nothing but liquids, that's where the protein shakes come in to play, I really doubt you'll be able to eat a meat type product in that time period, I wasn't able, in fact I didn't even want to eat because it was just uncomfortable, and I wasn't hungry, after the first week I did the meats but I used a blender to chop them up fine...I didn't puree cause I couldn't get passed how everything looked and tasted like potted meat..but I did chop them up fine, and the meats I ate were: baked chicken, fish, shrimp, and turkey....I usually bake them at a low temp until they fall apart this makes it easier to chop up and also eat. but even then and now don't beat yourself up if you can't finish even the half of cup portion...that again is where the protein shakes come in to play ...if you find yourself unable to get all the protein in have yourself a shake between the meals....I sometimes have 4oz of the shake in the morning and I do the other 4oz in the evening...and you can have your veggies I do, but I do mine right now with V8 tomato juice...in between meal times when you have your water and shakes shove you a V8 in there for just a few more vitamins...But to answer your question...yes our diets are geared toward the protein..eat the meat first then the veggies, and other carbs...the protein is what keeps the body going...besides water....drink plenty of that too....Good Luck.
