Wow, it's been a while

Jun 21, 2009

Sorry its been so long since my last post.  I'm now up to my loss of 110.5 pounds.  Lots of inches coming off, not so much pounds.  Gets depressing sometimes, but my clothing size keeps going down..

Closing in on 100 pounds

Apr 06, 2009

I know, I know....its been a while since I posted.  Truth be known, there hasn't been anything majorly exciting going on.  But as I stepped on the scale today and had lost 89 pounds, it donned on me I am only 11 pounds away from the 100 mark.  At that point, I get a tshirt from the St Vincent Bariatric Center and join the ONEderful Life.  I am hopeful to have that other 11 off by late April.  I will keep you all posted.

6 little sips......

Mar 14, 2009

....of diet pepsi.  On our return from Terre Haute night, we stopped to get the boys some ice cream since they were good in Menards while we were getting our blinds cut to fit.  Well they both wanted a diet drink, so I ordered three.  I waited until I got home (about 10 minutes) until I took my sips.  The first sip really burned my throat.....but it tasted soooooo good!!  I decided after 6 sips that I should stop.  It didn't taste AS good as the past, but then again it was diet pepsi and I like diet coke better.  So I think tomorrow on my way home from the grocery I will stop and get a diet coke.  I'm gonna hold it to one small diet coke a week.....that shouldn't be too bad.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!!

It's the little things in life.....

Feb 24, 2009

Good Day Readers.....

This has been a day of opening my eyes to the 'little things' in life.  I took today off to take Joe to the dentist.  He had to have a molar tooth pulled and we weren't sure how long that would take.  So after I got him home, I headed out to Curves and to Wal-Mart.  While at Curves, this lady says "I love your haircut".  Now mind you, I haven't had my hair cut since December....the lack of nutrition causes the growth to slow.  Heck, I hadn't even combed it all morning.  But she liked it so that is all that matters.  And here I had been considering getting it hacked off!  So after my 30 minute workout, I headed to Wal-Mart.  Since it was just me (which is rare that I don't have at least one son tagging along), I decided to take my sweet old time strolling through the store.  As some of you know, I have been dying for a Diet Coke for like two weeks now.  According to my surgeon and dietician, I cannot have one for another 83 (but who's counting) days.  Some people I know that have had the gastric bypass have been drinking Diet Coke since a week after surgery....but I am really trying to play by the rules.  Today, I picked up not one, not two, but three Diet Cokes.  I picked up one at Wal-Mart, walked around with it and put it back.  Then at Tractor Supply, I picked up another one, shook my head and put it back.  The third one I actually stopped at the gas station for nothing else but a Diet Coke....I instead got a bottle of water.  So that was three times my conscience won over my craving.  Possibly I should stay away from stores until this craving passes.  However, while at Wal-Mart I found sugar free chocolate syrup....yep I am sitting here drinking chocolate milk.  Surprisingly it takes 99% like Nestle Quik's chocolate milk.  This afternoon, I am making a huge pot of vegetable soup...that just sounded really good to me this morning and hopefully Joe will be able to eat some of it tonight for dinner.  So remember folks, it's the little things in life......

It was worth the wait....

Feb 22, 2009

Well since I was too exhausted Friday night to make the red velvet cake, and wore myself out at the mall yesterday....today was the day.  While Joe slept and the boys tried to kill each other in the play room....I made my sugar free red velvet cake...from scratch no less.  I even made the sugar free icing from scratch!!  Once I had it all baked, cooled, and iced I put it in the fridge as the directions called for.  Finally about 8 this evening, Joe and I had waited long enough.  We each took about a 3 ounce slice and started tasting.  Oh my....is it ever GOOD!!!  I cannot tell a difference from this cake to a regular, loaded with sugar, red velvet cake....I think this one is even better.  I ate about 1/2 the slice and said it was enough.  Joe finished his slice...hehe.  I was planning on taking the rest to work tomorrow, but now having second thoughts!!  They may have to just take my word on how good it was....LOL.

If anyone wants the recipe, just let me know and I'll send it to you!

Have a good week.

The cake had to wait

Feb 20, 2009

Well my last post said I was making a red velvet cake last night.  BUT after such a stressful day of dealing with getting Charlie to school and scheduling his pneumovax vaccination ( a story all by itself), I was too dead tired to even think of making a cake.  I had to work until just after 5, didn't get home until after 6.....and was sound asleep by 8!!  Yes Friday night I was in bed and asleep at 8 p.m.  Hopefully this evening, once I get all the errands done and kitchen cleaned up, I'll get that cake made.  Not to mention I need to go buy a couple round cake pans...have no clue what happened to mine.

I will keep you all posted on the taste of this much waited cake.  I sure hope its worth the $14.99 sugar crystals!!

3 Month Post-Op Visit

Feb 16, 2009

Well the weight may not seem to be coming up very fast, but the inches are!

My weight loss has slowed down, but the as of today I have lost a total of 13 inches from my waist in three short months.

Dr. Gupta also released me to do any sort of exercise I want to try.  Its a good thing since I joined Curves this past Friday and also bought a really nice treadmill for home.  My plan is to do Curves three times weekly and walk on the treadmill every night.  I did actually jog on it a while yesterday.

I have lost 69 pounds in three months.  She anticipates, as my exercising at Curves becomes more intense, the weight will start to quickly drop again....I sure hope so.  My little goal is to lose 100 by the end of March....I'm gonna have to hustle!!

I can finally stop worrying about my protein....well not totally stop worrying.  But now that I have made the 3-month mark, I can just drink plain milk (3 glasses daily) and get my required protein in....thank goodness.  Just something about that protein mix stuff that makes my stomach cry.

I am anxiously awaiting my "Nature Valley Sugar Crystals" this week to make the sugar free red velvet cake that I found on bariatriceating.com.  I'm not sure who is looking more forward to it, me or the gals at work.

I hope you all had a nice Valentine's weekend.  I put a treadmill together....how romantic.

Have a great week.

Job Stability = Weight Loss

Feb 08, 2009

Good Morning,

If you read a couple weeks ago, you knew I was stalled for about 10 days due to the unknown if my job was secure.  Well I made it through the first round of cuts.  At that time, 26 people were dismissed from the DOE.  Last week, another round loomed all week.  So once again, my weight loss stalled.  This time was extremely stressful because I knew some people from the finance area were going to be dismissed.  Even though I was told I was safe, one is never certain until the final cut.  Thankfully I was not one of the 40 that was dismissed.  I did, however, get a new title....Fiscal Analyst.  Sounds impressive huh??  LOL.  A huge weight was lifted during the meeting where our new CFO told us he had built the best team he knew to create his new Finance division.  The "best of the best" is what we are according to him.

So over the weekend, the weight began to come off again.  I didn't weigh this morning, but I assume I had lost some.  This morning is the DOE's biggest loser weigh in, so I will know what my total weekly weight loss is then.

So today, this new Fiscal Analyst is going to put her nose to the grindstone and continue to assist the school administrators give the students of Indiana the best education possible.

65 pounds gone forever!!

Feb 02, 2009

Just a quick note....as of this morning I have lost 65 pounds.  I'm sure a few pounds came off last Friday when my boss and I spent the entire day moving our offices from one area of the building to the other.  I was exhausted from all the hustle and bustle.  I can tell a lot of my muscle has vanished.  Hopefully I will be released to start a more strenuous exercise in the near future.  I have my 3-month follow up with my surgeon on the 16th, and I think she will release me then.

I've also had a good time selling my 'fat girl' clothes.  So far I have made $197, and there is another lady that wants to look at what is left.....its so exciting!  I did finally buy a new pair of jeans this past weekend.  When I put them on I can really tell I have lost quite a bit of weight.  I will try to get some pics taken of me in them tomorrow and post for you all to see.

Have a wonderful week!
