I have been heavy most of my life.  I lost a lot of weight back in my Jr year of high school and have since then piled it all back on little by little.
I am originally from Michigan but due to job loss and financial problems, we chose to move to Maryland to start a New life.
Well, all the stress from Michigan carried over to Maryland with me for the first year here........I just felt like we couldn't catch a break.............
I woke up one morning and finally decided, no one is gonna help us, but us............so the positive outlook started as did our new life in Maryland.
Well, now that we have settled in and our lives have finally took a turn for the better, I figure I can finally focus on myself.
We have been here 4 years now and I have tried Atkins, South Beach, Nutri System, Medifast, and Weight Watchers........I would get off around 20 lbs and then start gaining plus add a few to it.
I went and saw an endocrinologist and she diagnosed me with Metabolic X syndrome.........pretty much, I'm fat, pre-diabetic and my metabolism is junk........LOL
I started on meds for this and was at least able to lose a few pounds and keep it off, but nothing spectacular.
Nov of 07 I was hospitalized with pneumonia and was told I had to stop smoking..........OK..........so I did for a year and a half and gained 35 lbs.    Then, I started stressing again because of the weight gain and instead of turning to food with the risk of gaining even more weight, I slowly started smoking again....granted it was 1-2 cigarette a day, but I was still smoking. Then on Thanksgiving Day of 09, I started having bad chest pains and ended up in the hospital because they said my triponins were high and I was having a heart attack.    Wellllllllll, this totally freaked me out, really bad....Talk about a reality check, this was mine.
Well, after 4 days in the hospital, the diagnosis was that I did NOT, and was NOT having a heart attack, but some type of viral infection took over my body and affected my heart.
Well, after I totally recovered from this episode, I promised myself that I was finally going to heed God's warning and get healthy.
I had already been looking into Lap Band as Vertical Banding, but this just pushed me to pursue it harder.
So, after searching for about 7 months, I found a Dr that I liked and went from there and here I am.............My surgery is March 25, 2010
March 25th begins my Lap Band Journey, but today I am starting to live my life.
