6 months post-op

Sep 30, 2010

This was the best thing I ever did for myself! I have lost 73.5 lbs and feel great. I have another 35 lbs to go to be at goal. I used to need a 4-wheel walker to go any distance at all and now I rarely take it! Big improvement. I lived on Aleve twice/day and now rarely take Tylenol (doctor has forbidden any NSAID).

I did develop a "pill" ulcer after surgery, but then I was stupid and took all 3 of my pills at once. I'm sure one stuck to the side of my new stomach. I also had an EGD to be sure, but it was "just a small ulcer." I  sure don't want to have a big one, that was painful enough. I took Carafate and Pepcid for 2 or 3 months and it cleared up. I also take 3 pills/day instead of my former 7/day.

I still have trouble with chicken and lean beef, but fish and ground meat and fajita meat go down easily. I still avoid anything spicy or acidic because of the ulcer - just scared, I guess.
