Oh mu gosh, 20 days till surgery!!! I can not believe it. it seems like just yesterday I was at the informational meeting, which was actually in September. Everything has gone pretty smoothly, other than being denied twice, then it happened Lola, the office manager at Norfolk Surgical Group called me with the great news, it felt like I had won the lottery. Now here it is 20 days to go. I start my liquid diet 4/23, I have been preparing my self for it. Cutting my meals way down, increasing my water intake, no sodas and I have been using Splenda as a sweetener and working out pretty much daily about 45 mins or cardio and the strength training. All my friends have been really supportive, they go to the gym with me, we talk walks at lunch and we are just being there for each other. My parents also bought another treadmill for the house, so now I have no excuse!! i love my life and my family, and feel so incredibly blessed to have this opportunity to change my life and let the real me shine. I will update again soon....

YAY, YAY, YAY I have my suregery date April 30, 2009 and oh me oh my I am so excited.  I was really beginning to think that it was not going to happen. And then it did. I keep thinking about howmuch my life is going to change, I am ready for change. I have been extra busy with work and appointments it seems lately. I hope these next 2 months fly by. I will udate again real soon.

It has been awhile since I was last on OH, I have been somewhat discouraged, but I am finding my way back. My consult with Dr.Fontana @ Norfolk Surgical Group went wonderfully, he said that I was an excellent candidate and gave me a list of things that I needed to do to proceed towards having surgery. Well I did everything on the list, following the program to the "t", my labs for my thyroid came back "abnormal" and my calcium was low so I went to my PCP and he put me on Synthroid and I bought Citracal, I had repeat labs done and reported to my surgeons office with the good news of normal lab results. I thought to myself, now all I have to do is sub mitt everything to Optima, and I will have a date, boy was I wrong. It has now been three weeks since my DENIAL because of lack of medical documentation of an attempt at weight loss. I have chose to appeal it, actually I chose a Peer to Peer which is where Dr.Fontana (my surgeon) calls the MD @ Optima, where he will explain all the pros of me having surgery and all the cons of me not having surgery. I was told by the office manager who handles all of the auths for surgery at the office that its good to appeal because another pair of eyes are looking at my case, and I was told by a nice lady @ Optima that 90% of people who do a Peer to Peer, have success with it. So I am praying and I've got my fingers crossed. But while I am waiting to be approved I am going to just put it in the Lord's hands and make as much effort on my end as I can to eat right and exercise. I'll write again when I have more news!
