Swallowing Air?

Apr 26, 2009

How does one go about actually swallowing air? I read in my manual and a few books about it and laughed.. but somehow I think i am doing it too??  I started having chest pains a few nights ago, right after taking a drink of some diet V8. Burning.. pain all over my chest-so i ate  a tums. Can we do tums? i didnt know, and at that moment, didnt care , it hurt so bad! then it went away. I waited a while, then took a dip of water.. same burning-- but then it was like all over my chest.. even on the side it hurt. I couldnt get it to go away.. so i reclined, i layed, i sat up. Only until later that night, when i burped a little and realized it was feeling better did I think it was just air. I dont like this.. not one bit!

And!!! I think i found a protein drink that i can drink! So far only drank 1/2, so i will let you know if i can finish the whole thing!

9 days post-op & I got an ice cream maker!!

Apr 25, 2009

So i didnt realize that ice cream makers needed rock salt, so another trip to get that... and granted i should have made a larger batch, but i didnt know if i would like it or anything, so i just made a little - turned out pretty damn good!! (then i made a 2nd batch) Even my 6 year old liked it, so not so bad at all!

Here is the recipe I used (from Eggface's website- noted below)

Chocolate peanut butter ice cream
2 scoops chocolate protein powder (or 1 sample packet)
1 cup milk or soy milk
1 Tbs melted creamy peanut butter
1-2 Tbs sugar free chocolate syrup (found in health food/organic secion of grocery store)

Dump into ice cream maker & follow instructions according to machine.

Can take some reeses's sugar free peanut butter cups and crush/chop them and add them into the mix when done. (i didnt need to add this) Put in container to freeze for harder ice cream, or eat as is for soft serve texture!

So I weighed myself a few days ago, and i was down 12 lbs. awesome! I wanted to check again today.. im so sick of not being able to chew things.. needed to see if the scale could make me feel better about driniking all of my foods right now... and today, (9 days post-op) i am down 19 lbs!!   sweeeet!

Anyone ever chew some "normal food" and then spit it out--- just to have the feeling of chewing?? LOL. I's seriously crossed my mind.

6 days post op

Apr 23, 2009

So today is day 6. I think I'm doing well. I am off of the pain medication now, and just suffering in silence every now & then. :)  I use the binder alot- it really helps when i'm moving around and stuff. I dont really lay in bed all day, im up and about, and since im staying at my parent's house, im doing stuff around here... dishes, cleaning.. etc. LOL.

I cant take this protein drink stuff!!! AAACK! i've gotten probably 10 different kids of shakes, different brands and flavors..  a few i can sip for a while, but i never can really stomach it enough to finish it. ANy ideas??? I'm getting an ice cream maker tomorrow to try out egg face's recipes with the protien mixes.. I've been adding it to my soups.

SO, who's got ideas? i need to get some more of this stuff down!!  how much were you told to take? I have conflicting info- they said drink 3 shakes a day. (omg) and each shake should be at least 10 grams of protein. BUt then i think i saw somewhere that im supposed to do 60 grams a day? hmm.. im trying to get 1 shake down and ill be happy right now!!
