Hi. Congrats, you are almost on the losing side. You have made a valiant decision for a healthier life and I applaud you. Good luck on you upcoming surgery and I hope you have a speedy and painless recovery and much success on the rest of your journey.

Andrea, My heart aches for you. I am so sorry your insurance is not paying. However, I would continue to appeal even after you pay. I may be going thru the same thing, as I have Aetna as well. I am so happy you have a way to pay for the surgery. When you said you didn't like taking the money for yourself... You aren't ... you are doing it for your family.. remember that Hugs Carol

Andrea, Hope tomorrow will bring the news that you are wanting to hear. I have one week until my surgery and guess I was lucky with my insurance company. I had a letter last week saying the hospital was not approved for July 30 and had to wait till the next day to call my insurance and she said she did not understand what was wrong since the consultants had said it was approved. anyway on Monday at work one of my coworkers brought a fax to me that said the hospital would be approved. Hope you company will okay you to. Debra T.

Hi Andrea; Just want to wish you God's speed with the insurance co. My wait was really long also, ended up switiching ins. co.'s. So, keep on top of them, sounds like you are doing great in the process to WLS. Pray you get your positive answer on the 24th, or soon as possible.

6/18/2003 - I figured I would start keeping my journal.. I am a few weeks into the process. I visited Dr. Lin on June 2nd. I heard he was the best, so I guess that is why I had to wait 5 months to get an appointment with him. I had a friend who went to him, and was totally amazed at her success.. (Very Proud of you ANGIE!!! - I know you will read this!) I am now in the fustrating phase of getting the information to the insurance company for approval. I give Kathy (Dr. Lin's Administrator) a hell of alot of credit to do what she does - Thanks Kathy! Until you get into this process, you really don't think about how nit-picky these insurance companies are.. I guess I am just fustrated in trying to get things together.. and always feeling I am running into doors. I have been reading about this RNY procedure for about 2 years and have been sitting on the fence - figuring I could get my weight off and not resort to surgery... but, I can't... I need the help. I am lucky that my PCP is really behind me on this, she has sent two other patients of hers to have this done, and is really pleased with their success. I hope the paperwork goes to the insurance company this week... then I get the joy of waiting.. It would be a nice surprise if they approved me in a day or two, like ones I have read about. Can you tell I am not an optimist? I was hoping so much to be able to have this surgery in July. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
