Well, basically I have battled weight issues since I was a child.  I have lost, gained and then re-lost the same 40-60 pounds at least 10 times over the last 30 years....probably more.  I am 43 years old and can remember refusing to eat the summer of before 6th grade so that ....maybe....just maybe....the boys might actually notice me!  Well, of course they did with the weight gone!  In fact I am still married to one of those boys today!  Never mind I was weak and hospitalized for rehydration.....but I guess that taught me that it is always better to be thin than fat!  It seems I have spent a lifetime trying every conceivable diet and excercise regimen to maintain my weight only to fail in the end.  I adore and love food!  Almost every family event and function centers around food in our family get togethers...as does everyones I think and that is one of the things I enjoy the most.  It just seems that I eat way, way too much.  I am hoping so much that this VSG tool will help me to learn portion control and give me that same feeling of satiety while still allowing me to enjoy small, normal amounts of foods that thin people eat!  I am worried about every aspect of this surgery.  I think that being a surgical nurse for the last 16 years and knowing the occasional incidents that can occur with even perfectly healthy individuals on the operating room table is creating way too much anxiety for me but I am determined to pursue this avenue and have my surgery on....of all days....Friday Novemeber 13th!  After much research and after personally speaking with several of his patients, I have chosen Dr. Guillermo Alvarez of Piedras Negras, Mexico (only one mile across the Texas border).  I will let you know how everything goes.  I spent yesterday at Walmart purchasing every clear liquid I could think of....any advice is always welcome from those who have walked these halls before me!
