Back for the third time!
Oct 29, 2016
Ok, so its the third time. Had the Lapband 2008, went to Sleeve in 2012, and had a Revised Sleeve Oct 10, 2016.
So here the deal. Lapband just didn't work either too tight or too loose. I used easy foods with lots of gravy or something to get the food and protein down. Anyway didn't work for me except about 20lbs. Then went from Lapband to Sleeve in one surgery. Lost about 20lbs and boom I was stuck till 2016. I actuallly started to gain. after the first few weeks I felt no restriction or at least it was a tiny bit. It wasn't coming off like other peoples did. I really struggled for 3 !/2 years thinking I just was a failure. I told the Surgeons PA and Nutritionist but they just about threw a menu and meal plan at me and said do this. If I could just do that I didnt need surgery to help me. They would do the Fluoroscopy but didn't use the gas bubble to spread out the stomach. As an Xray tech, I said that looks kinda big. They said no its not and would get me out of the room. Every time I would go to my surgeons office they would say I was fine and follow the menu. Remember, I felt almost no restriction. Unless, it was Thanksgiving dinner and I ate a lot then I would notice I couldn't eat as much. But, everyday meals I could eat a lot. So, after leaving the surgeons office in tears I gave up going there. ( not good to do that because if you decide to go to another doctor, they or the insurance can say you weren't compliant with the other surgeon's on follow up appointments ) . I started to gain weight. I have a bad back, bad knees and EDS ( Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome, double jointed, causes lots of pain everywhere). So I had bilateral knee replacement. Got MRSA, had to have 6 surgeries on one knee in 9 mos. So, being laid and not moving like I used to I got up to 250 lbs in the end. I needed back surgery and they said it would be better to lose weight first. So, in a nut shell, I went to a new fantastic Doctor he ran some tests and discovered my stomach wasn't done right. In 2012 going from Band to Sleeve they left the whole fundus. OMG!!!!! I have been blaming myself for so long. My other doc did NOT so the Sleeve correctly and left most of the Stomach. BTW, going from Band to Sleeve in on surgery this could happen. My current surgeon suggests removing the band then 3 months later going in and doing the sleeve. So now, I got the sleeve corrected and I'm hoping this will give me the help I need. I following it to a tee. Lets see what happens. So far 22lbs but hit a 3 day plateau. Scary with my history.
I'm going to do it this time!!!!

11 pounds down!
Jul 11, 2008
11 pounds down. I see it on the scale but don't see it yet in the mirror or clothes. I know I will start to see a difference after surgery. I will be disbelief when my clothes start to get smaller. I will really feel good if the pain starts to go away. Surgery is in 4 days. I have had tons of support. Thanks everyone.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes

one week pre-op
Jul 08, 2008
I am one week out from having the Lap-band. I got a cold this last weekend and am still getting over it. I feel yukky. I just finished writing my story. I have lost 9 lbs since the liquid diet. I am kinda sick of it. I am used to planning on what to have with more choices if you know what I mean. Just ready to get on with it. I have been on a worker's comp type situation after rupturing my biceps tendon. Had a major surgery and have a big brace on my arm keeping it at a 90 degree angle. I can't even drive to go cheat if I wanted to. I am limited to what I already have in the house. My husband won't help me cheat ( he eats healthy). So, I am bored and hungry and don't really have my drug of choice. I am glad to see the weightloss although I don't feel it cuz it is the same 10 lbs I lose back and forth. However, it is motivating. I need to try to drink more water today. I am not much of a drinker.

I have 10 days till Lapband surgery. I am ready now more than ever. Especially, since I am on a liquid diet. The first 3 days were the worst. Headache, hunger, cravings you name it. It is better now (4th day) but the thought of 10 more days on the liquid diet are frightening when you don't have much will power. Its a struggle.
My sweet husband is having protein shakes with me just to help me out. His idea. He does not have a weight problem. Obviously, he doesn't love food the way I do. I appreciate him being there for me. I am truely blessed to have him.
