Psych Eval Completed
Jul 12, 2008
Forgot to add in, that I have completed my Psych evaluation. I saw the Dr. on June 19th for an hour then I had to take an 800 question true and false test. I then had to go back on June 30th for my results. Although I passed and did not need any further counseling at this time, I was asked to either add more meds for depression and anxiety or to up my dose. I had no problems with that, as I am sure I will need it. I expect this process to be an emotional rollercoaster for the next months to come. Even though I hate the thought of having to swallow any pills, I am just fine with that decision. He said that he will support me having surgery to its fullest extent! I was glad to hear that.
Date set with surgeon...

7/8/08 - The nurse called me to set up an appointment with the surgeon. They have received all my medical records. I was shocked they got them so fast, considering other docs have had problems getting them from a couple places in the past. Anyways, my appointment with the surgeon is July 15th at 1:30 pm. She told me I would meet with the surgeon, then I would meet with her for more education, etc. on the procedure. She told me based on my records things should go pretty smoothly as far as getting approved very quickly. I also have a 1 year documented weight loss plan in my records that isnt even asked for by the insurance company, so that I am sure will help right there. But time will only tell. I will find out so much more on Tuesday. I am very excited to get in there and visit with the surgeon.
As of yet, I do not know which procedure I am going to go with. I am leaning towards the sleeve procedure, but I am a bit leary because the statistics are not very high for this type of surgery. I am hoping the surgeon will help me to make the correct decision for what is best for me and my current health issues. He is the pro and I will be looking to him for support on this choice. That is about all for now. I am very anxious, scared and a lil bit of uncertainty at this point. But I know this is all for the best for my future as well as my family's.
Moving along...

6/13/08 - My papers are off in the mail to Dr. Bruderer. I stopped in to my primary physicians office today to give them my medical release form. Now I just need to send off a bunch more release forms to many other doctors across the country.
Tonite was my hubby's company picnic, and was hoping to talk with a nurse who had the surgery done, but then it started pouring right after we got there and she left. I was hoping to get some contact info for her, since she told me some about her process while I was in the ER when I found out about possible CHF. I hope I run into her sometime soon again. I do not even know her name or I would try contacting her through phone.
On the path to a better me...

6/11/2008 - Yesterday, I finally decided to get my paperwork all filled out and ready to go in the mail. I checked into the insurance company to find out if things were covered, which they are thankfully. I also made a call to the psych to set up an appointment. That appointment is scheduled for June 19th. They told me that I would be there at least 3 hours to see the Psych and to take some kind of test. I asked what kind of test, she told me true/false, yes/no questions, etc. I also need to get all my medical releases out yet to my past docs in other states where I have lived. Hopefully I will get an appointment very soon. I am still very anxious about the surgery but also a bit leary. I do not know which surgery I am having yet and will not know until I speak to my doctor more, since I have a lot of different medical issues.
