I have been overweight most of my teenaged and adult life. I have tried numerous diets, excercise and even drugs. I have had sucess, but as sure as my name is Carla, I fail and gain it all back and sometimes a few extra pounds for a good measure. I decided in January of 2007 after stepping on the scale at my Dr.'s office that I have had enough! I had gained back nearly 60lbs of my 160lb loss in 2005. I went to a seminar at Beaumont Hosptial in Troy/Sterling Hgts. and listened to Dr. Deol as she explained the lap-band surgery. I hoped that my insurance would pay for the cost and then found out that I didn't qualify at Beaumont...they didn't take my insurance in network...so I hunted around and found Forest aka Bariatric Treatment Centers. They are in network for me and I am scheduled 4/25/07 I am hoping with this surgery to finally be free of the aching knees and hips (at least til I am in my 90's like my grandmother) For the most part most people are supportive and seem to care but there are others that think I am copping out. My brother (who is also my one and only client in my business) is one that is not supportive...he seems to feel that I have lost so much weight in the past that it must be my lack of will-power! Sheesh I quit smoking and he did as well the same day I am still tobbacco-free nearly 2 years later and he is not...so who has no will power? I have strength and fortitude but cannot seem to defeat my body's desire to stash away those extra fat pads for the rainy day it thinks will happen soon.
