Wow!! It is my 2 year Anniversary today!!!

Oct 24, 2010

I have to say that it almost took me by surprise today when I got an email from Obesity help Website to wise me a happy 2 year anniversary!  It definitely seemed to drag on and on the first 6 months, but now it seems to be flying by.  I am so able to be more active in my life and I am so much healthier than I was before my surgery.
I do have to admit that I lost over 150 lbs, but in the last 6 months, life has been very stressful with the loss of my Mother in January to start off a rough year.  In February, I had let my health go due to grieving and depression until finally I ended up in the hospital myself!  This became a very serious wake up call!!!   Why go through the weight loss surgery, be successful in weight loss afterwards - only to let myself go to a point of physical health problems due to anxiety and stress.  It was not worth it to let myself go.
I have now worked hard to try to get my head back wrapped around good thoughts and began taking the correct and complete vitamins  and I am beginning to feel much better.  Biotin, (a natural Protein capsule) has been a great addition to my Calcium, Vit. - b12,D, and Lutein (for the eye health).
I guess the next goal I am work toward would be to find a  Plastic Surgeon who will work with Tri - Care in Missouri, preferrably to perform my corrective surgery.  I would like to be back on my feet for summer 2011, when I am due to graduate College --  Not bad to have this goal fulfilled , graduate College, and have good health all at 46 Years old!!!

Well enough rattling on,  if anyone has any suggestions regarding surgeons , please let me know.
Thank you
and may God Bless you all in reaching, achieving, and maintaining your current and future goals!

One Year down and a Lifetime of Healthy living ahead! :-)

Oct 26, 2009

I have made it to my One year anniversary!  I have lost 130 lbs. since my heaviest weight in August 2008 (285lbs), but I was 260 when I began with Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia, Missouri October 2008. If any one is looking for an amazing doctor you could do no better than him! He and his staff are absolutely wonderful, compassionate, and always there for help ANY TIME DAY OR NIGHT!!!!!!  Not many doctors would do that for you!
I also want to say thank you to the wonderful support of the "Beautiful Butterfly" group who post here from Missouri on a regular basis.  I know that I have not been in contact with most of them if a very long time, but they were the inspiration I needed to get on track and stay on track as I began my journey to a healthier me!  It saddens me to say that i just heard that one of that group has left this world for a better place, and I honor Angie with all my heart and prayers to her family!  She was a wonderful and inspirational person.
Just remember to never give up! Take each day as it comes and make the best of it. Always remember also, you are doing this for yourself and no one else!!!  The struggles you may go through are minor compared to the benefits you will receive in the end. Keep your eye on your ultimate goal, but take it one day at a time!
I pray that you all have the same blessings that I have had. Keep the faith !

I am not hating shopping for clothes anymore!!!

Dec 08, 2008

I could not believe it when I went shopping yesterday!  I have been wearing a size 22/24 for almost a decade now. I knew my clothes were getting big on me with my weight loss since the surgery, but it was not until yesterday that it really sunk in.  I started a new job last week and I cannot wear jeans except on Fridays.  Unfortunately, ALL of my slacks look like clown pants on me now, and even with a belt I have trouble keeping them up!  I did not want to do any shopping for clothes until I lost more weight, but it was inevitable.
I went to Wal Mart and figured I could get away with a size 20, but imagine my surprise when even a size 18 was too big.  I actually ended up trying on a pair of size 16 pants and to my pleasant surprize THEY FIT (AND THEY WERE NOT EVEN TIGHT!!!!!)
WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!   I think I will enjoy shopping now!!!  I am actually out of the PLUS sizes finally!

One month out and AMAZED!!!

Dec 02, 2008

Well here I am, one month out and I am truley amazed at the difference.  I have seen others who are one month out and have lost so much, but I guess I just did not think I could lose so much so fast!!  I am officially down 50 lbs now, but I have hit my first roadblock!   I guess it is because I can finally eat something that is not pulverized so my system has to get used to it.  I have had many people tell me how much different I looked, but I still see the old me in the mirror.  It was not until I looked at the comparison picture I did with my sister (who is 3 years out) that I really could see the difference.  I have posted the new picture with "my Photos".  Only 63 more lbs to go.  I think my other block right now is because I have just gone back to work and this limits the time I have each day to go excercise.  I am hoping to get moving again soon so I can see another drastic change when I get to go see Dr. Hornbostel in February.  That will be my 4 month checkup and I am hoping to have at least another 10 to 15 lbs down by then!   Of course trying to find clothes to fit these days has proven to be quite a chore!!  I don't want to go spend money on new clothes since I keep losing, but I am running out of options.  Guess I will have to visit the Thrift store and find some cheap pants for work to get me by for now.  Well its late and I have to be up in the morning.  I'll be back again soon!!

Well Here I Go!!!

Oct 26, 2008

I just made it over my first MAJOR hurdle!   I had my Roun-Y Bypass done on the 23 of October!!  I got to leave the hospital on Saturday and come home.  Now comes the newest challenges -- feeding my family and/or being there while they enjoy full meals, while I 'enjoy' my new found diet!
Don't get all concerned!!!!   I am going to do just fine.  I have my goal set and there is nothing I can think of that will stop me from reaching that goal!  I knew full well how hard it was going to be when I started (and truthfully - my guys [my son-16, & husband] love me and know that I am working very hard at this and are supporting me completely!)
I could not believe that in just the 2 weeks before surgery I actually lost 20 lbs.!   I know all I ate/drank was liquid, but it still shocked me.

I am already on my way, watch out world 'cause a leaner {better} me is on the way!!!!
