Almost Here

Oct 23, 2009

I have been on the Optifast Diet for the last week and a half.  After talking to my nutritionist, they changed the shakes to bars because I was having a hard time.  I was on the never had surgery diet which doesn't work with revisions because liquids are not absorbed since we have very little small intestines.  Since changing, I have more of a full feeling.  I did all my pre-surgery meetings on Thursday, so now I'm just waiting for the morning of surgery.

I'm a little upset because the hospital has instituted a Flu Season visiting hours.  Until last week, my husband could stay in the room with me so that I would have help with walking and going to the bathroom.  Now he can only come during visiting hours which are 11 to 1 and 6 to 8.  We live 50 miles from the hospital so now it's not even worth him taking off work to be there during those hours.  Driving 200 miles to visit during visiting hours so I guess he will go to work and I won't have any visitors during my stay.  This totaly sucks.  I'm sure the nurses aren't going to want to walk with me on my schedule.

I will be glad when the surgery gets here but now I guess I'll be even happier to get home so I will have my family near.  One person told me I should have had my surgery during the off flu season.  I've been working to get to this point for 9 months so I'm not letting them make it longer just to have family with me.

I really love my doctors.  Everyone I've dealt with at his office and at the Hospital have been great.  I am ready.
