It's been one year since my husband drove me to Cleveland Clinic for my surgery.  God gave me the courage and the doctor gave me the tool.  It was the best thing I've done for myself ever.  A year ago I felt terrible.  No energy, couldn't walk for very long or far without my back hurting so bad.  I couldn't keep up with my grandkids and that broke my heart.  When my doctor told me that I was borderline diabetic along with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, and chronic back pain, I knew I had to do something, but just couldn't do it on my own.  I had tried to lose so many times but never kept it off.

I never dreamed I would be feeling this good that hot summer morning a year later, but here I am.  I have cured my sleep apnea, my high blood pressure, my high cholesterol, and my back pain is all but gone.  I still have flair ups but the damage was already done from my being so heavy.  I can keep up with my grandkids, we bike, play tennis, soccer and volleyball.  My grandaughter and I dance and go for walks.  We live right by a K-mart and Target so we have been taking walks there now and then.  She's only 5 but she's got the shopping gene.  She does love her shoes!!  I've been able to go to my grandson's baseball games, park & walk carrying my chair & water.  A year ago I had a hard time doing that.  I love not having that bloated feeling.  I can breathe and am able to keep up with my housework.  Things that I know you guys know what I'm talking about.  Yesterday I went out and bought a pair of shorts.  I haven't worn shorts in such a long time.  I went from a size 26 to a size 14, working on a size 12.  I have 18 lbs to go to reach my goal weight.  If I didn't lose another pound I'd be satisfied.  I use to golf before I got so heavy it wasn't fun anymore.  I think that will be my next goal.  Start golfing again.  I have this forum to thank for all the unselfish support that I received even though you probably didn't even know it.  I've learned so much from OH.  You guys understand because we are all working towards the same goal.  Being healthier, learning to eat healthier, and getting our exercise in.  I LOVE THIS BAND!!  I only wish I could have inspired my husband to have it.  So far he says no and I know it has to be his choice, but for his health I worry.  He comes from a family that has good genes.  His Dad's side of the family have all lived to in their 90's.  I hope he has them too.
