My name is Gina, I am 38 years old, almost 39 and I have been overweight since I was at last 8 years old. I am happily married, with 3 children, and we live in California. I have an extremely stressful life as I am a Realtor, we own our own business, and I take care of the 3 kids. I have always put veryone first in my life but I am now going to put myself first.
My WLS story begins in Feb. 2006. I had the lapband put in on Feb. 1st along with a very dear friend of mine. I lost only 19 pounds the first year, 72 the second year, third year I got pregnant and gained 50 pounds and began having horrible acid reflux and vomiting even if the band was empty. I suffered for another year because I did not have insurance. I finally realized that I was able to get insurance through the real estate board and immediately did so. The rest is history and is going very quickly
My insurance went into effect Jan. 1 2011, had an appointment with PCP on Jan. 7-he sent referral to Bariatrics Dept, Jan. 10th the Baratrics Dept contacted me, later that afternoon the surgeon called me and I met with him two weeks later and was scheduled for Feb. 11 to remove my band! It was the best day to finally be able to eat normal and not throw up. I am having the sleeve done on June 17th, 2011. This will mark my new birthday.
My goal is to be 150 or less by May 31, 2012...my 40th birthday. My mantra is "Fabulous at 40, not Fat at 40"!! I can and will do this.
