My husband and I are having VSG after waiting 6 years for our insurance to cover bariatric surgery.
We first intended to have gastric bypass but after learning about VSG, we knew this was the best choice for us.
Dr Scott at bariatric solutions in Greenville SC is our surgeon.  We are scheduled to have our surgeries on June 13.2012.  I guess that will be the day our lives change forever.  Like a new birthday.

Some people question us doing this on the same day.  I do think it will be hard not have him hold my hand the time before we go back as one of us will obviously go first since Dr Scott is doing our surgeries, however.  Being able to do the liquid pre-op diet and going through the post-op together will be worth it.  We are in this together.  He and I met in 2005.   I have never known my husband or seen him less than 350 pounds and I can't wait to see the person he will be after he loses his weight.  When we met he was around 350.   I am so thankful we get to do this together and I am looking forward to the 6th month anniversary.

My lowest weight in the last ten years was 212.  I remember how wonderful it felt.  I miss the confidence, the desire, the way I view myself.  I want all of it back, plus more.  When I sought surgery 6 years ago, I was around 250.  When we started this in mid March, I weighed 350.  He weighted 450.  We both have lost a little as we have been preparing for surgery and will lose much more the next few weeks or they will cancel our surgeries!  I have to lose 20 and he has to lose 40.  We wil do it!!!

The most awesome thing was to get a letter from anthem that said "we are pleased to approve your surgery! ".  Wow, It is really going to happen.  Pray for my husband and I because we have 36 days to do optifast shakes 5 times a day with one tiny meal mixed in per day.  But this is just to get us prepared for life after our surgery.   Here we go.
