"When I first looked into GBS I was refered by my PCP to another doctor closer to where I live. I went to the presentation and it was nice, but I was in a room with about 100 other people and it really felt like the sales pitch and not about the person. When I went to my insurance page to look for a different doctor, all of them were about 90 minutes away. Becasue of distance I wanted to make sure about my choice before asking for a consult. The more I saw and read about Dr. Zare the more I thought it would be worth meeting him. I called and talked to his amazing assistant Ben. Less then 30 minutes later Dr. Zare was calling me back, getting background info and answering questions. It sealed the deal for me and I set up the first appointment. The first appointment was very complete and only had 2 other people there with me. We watched a video together and had question and answer time with the Doctor. At no time did I feel rushed or put out. Before leaving I met personally with the Doctor and we set goals together and the decision was made to move forward. Because of insurance reasons I had to wait about a month and a half before moving forward. It is important to say that the responsiblity of the operation and the steps needed are supported by Ben, but it was up to me to make the calls and keep things moving forward as it should be, because after all this is my life change. In december things came together very quickly and even caught me by surprise. Dr. Zare approved the surgery but was very serious about the weight lose to make the surgery safer. The weekend before surgery was full of phone calls from the hospital and even though Dr. Zare had a very busy schedule, he came by to see me the day of the operation, the following day and of course the day I was sent home. His attitude was upbeat and concerned. His two Bariatic nurses had a lot of inforamtion and were there for support, but I really didn't feel that they did that much with their visits. I do think they serve a great purpose of reminding you of all those things you read about and study before surgery but don't experience until after. If you are looking for a surgeon that knows his field, knows how to help you through the process, that has staff in place that are knowledgeable and helpful and will be their every step of the way and will be honest with you, then Dr. Zare is your best choice."
