Elizabeth, thank you for your post. I also must admit that I am a little green of the people that seem to sail right through this. I try to keep my chin(s) **ha ha** up and think that once I have my LAP BAND surgery, it will mean a lot more because of all of the hell I went through to reach that point. I want you to keep in touch; to see how you are coming along with the process also.

Hi Elizabeth, About sleep apnea. Whoever told you that you can die from apnea is right. You must get that settled before your surgery. Lungs can get all messed up from it. You want to be used to your cpap machine before your surgery because they insist you bring it with you to the hospital. Believe me, I know. I have not had my surgery yet, but I am trying to get used to my cpap again. I have sinus problems and am now getting over bronchitis and lots of coughing. Boy, does that get in the way of cpap usage. LOL. The 2nd sleep study is so they can find out how to set your cpap that works for you to keep you breathing. Please do not ignore this. My caregiver had a client that died because she did not use her cpap. Believe me, that scared me into trying to get used to lots of air blowing in my face!! I am not ready to die at 52!! I am going to have my surgery and have a life for once. There are 2 diff masks that I know of. One is a half mask and just covers your nose. The other is a *full face* mask. It covers your mouth and nose. They do not need to be on painfully tight either. It takes a bit to get used to them, but it can be done and the machines are quiet. Please for your sake do it. For your loved ones' sakes do it. This is your first step to a new life. You will eventually start waking up with a bit more energy and less headaches (bet you wake up with them) and just a better feeling. It does take time though. Write me if you want. We can keep up with each other. Above all good luck with it all and angels be on your shoulders through your start on your new life. Hey it's all an adventure!!!
