finding help

Mar 13, 2009

So I have been looking for help to get the gastric bypass surgery for months now!  I have wrote letters to my ins begging them to help pay at least a portion of the cost and they deny me every time, saying that any weight loss surgery or co-obesities are not covered at all, the surgery is concidered cosmetic!  How stupid is that?   I have also wrote letters to some dr's asking for help.  There is no way that I can afford to pay for the surgery myself and even with the financing option the monthly payments are still way too much for my family to be able to afford!
There is still hope though!  I just found out that medicade, malina or healthy you, will cover at least a portion of the surgery, now it's just a matter of qualifying for that.  I also found an ins that goes on a monthly plan that is $240/month for one person, that is still a ton of money for me to come up with but I may be able to save as much as I can for the next few months to come up with it and then schedule the surgery in the month that I have that ins?  Just an idea.
I don't know what else I can do but what I've been doing, I get at least 1hr of excersise each day and that's just the Aerobics, strength, and some yoga, that doesn't even count the time I spend playing with my children, cleaning house, and other every day things that require some heavy lifting and getting my heart rate up.   I eat right, well mostly, I have been for years!  I have trained my taste buds to not like really sweet things, they make me sick now to eat things that are too sweet, I still do eat chocolate but it has to be dark and I only allow myself an ounce a day.  My one weakness is Dr Pepper, I have about 12oz a day at most some days I don't have any but usually I do :( I know I will have to quit it and I am working on it.
Any suggestions are welcome!!  Have a great day!
