My story is like most, I've dealt with being overweight the majority of my life.  The only exception was about 14 or so years ago, when I lost weight because I was love sick.  I lost about 70lbs in 2 months.  At my smallest I weighed 170 and now I have gained another me.  Like most, I suppose the weight just begin to pile on over the course of the years.  The majority of the people in my family are large people.  It appears to be genetic on both sides of my family.  I have one child and thank God that he is not overweight.  He isn't "skinny" and he never will be, because of the genetic make up of me and his father, however, he is a thick and handsome young man.  I try and monitor what and how much he eats so that he will not have to go down the road of obesity, high blood pressure or diabetes.

I begin to think about the surgery after a visit to my GYN revealed that weighed in at 346lbs.  I just broke down in the office and my doctor was so compassionate.  He asked that we talk about what was bothering me before we even began the annual exam.  He told me that I needed to do something to get healthy and recommended that I see Dr. Kuwada.  At the time I balked at the idea of having surgery and said that I would try Weight Watchers for a year and then decide on the surgery.  Well, WW worked for a little while and then the weight just started to come back.  I've managed to keep off 8 of the 14 pounds.

I want to do this surgery so that I can be here to see my only child graduate high school, college, get married and have me some grand children.  I want to be fit at 40 , looking and feeling good.  My husband and I went to a seminar about the WL surgeries and I have been on the journey ever since.

My trust is in God, knowing that He will see me through this journey, as He has seen me through the past 37 years of my life.
