Well all is still good. I'm down another 7 pounds since surgery. So the stats are now....

Pre-Op.......... 416
Op Day ..........401
7 days out .....381
11 days out....375!!

I found the best item at Target today. It called a HydraCoach water bottle. It tells you how much water you are taking in, and average OZ per hour. I LOVE it. It was a little pricey at 24.99 but totally worth it for me. No more guessing how much water you have drank and it motivates you to drink more often. I found it in Sporting Goods at the "yoga" section.

Hey all. Well I had my first big scare last night and it had NOTHING to do with my pouch. When the nurse put my foley catheter in during surgery, she damaged my urethra. They called in a special doctor, and he fixed it, no biggie. They kept it in the whole time I was in the hospital. When they removed it before going home, it was quite painful and I had some bleeding. They told me that it would real on its own. So no problems until lastnight. Earlier Sunday I was urinating, and being a typical guy, I was peeing pretty fast, and pushing faster so I could get back to my movie. Well I had this intense burning. Wow! It was bad, it bled a little, and I thought it would be ok. Well last night I was in the bathroom, getting ready for bed. I went to urinate and forgot about easy does it. The same thing happend again, but this time the burning was more intense, and I was bleeding a lot!! I panicked, and stood up thinking I could walk the burning off. Blood was all over the floor and I knew it was time to yell for help. Next thing I know I was on the toilet with my whole family in the bathroom. I had passed out!!! The bleeding stopped and the pain was gone in the couple of minutes I was out. I of course called my surg. and he said that I had prolly just washed the scab (yeah scab in there yikes!) away and it would be ok. I was so afraid to urinate after that. Well I've gone 5 times since then, and everything is ok! Just take it extra slow from now on until it heals.
I also had my one week follow up today! I'm down 17 pounds since surgery 7 days ago woohoo!! Now I am on stage 2 diet, so I get jello and soup.

Hello all! I'm feeling pretty good today, after a rough night. Yesterday I found out that I was able to lay on my bed comfortably and though I would sleep there instead of the recliner. Well I took my pain med about 10:00 and went right to sleep. Then all of a sudden at 2:30am I woke up in bad pain over my stomach. Usually when I wake up in pain it's gas. So I went to the bathroom, had a little relief. I took more pain meds so I could go back to sleep, then it hit me. The worst case of nausea ever. I got up and on the way to the bathroom I started dry-heaving. I was freaking out, thinking somthing was wrong. Once I got to the bathroom, and burped a couple of times I felt much better. I got back on the recliner around 4am and slept fine until 9am. I have a feeling the pain was gas pain, and I might have taken the liquid pain meds a little too fast. Because burping and walking really helped with the nausea, but still I'm telling my Doc. about it monday at my one week post-op, I'll post about what he says.

Well I finally got home late Thursday (24th) afternoon. I had a 40 min ride from the hospital to my grandmas house, that was rough. I'm really sore, but not really in pain. I do although have gas pains and walking really helps. I haven't weighed myself yet, but I will monday when I go back to see the doc for my week follow up and I think to get my staples removed. The feeling is so weird, I haven't eaten anything since last week, and I have no feeling of hunger whats so ever! I do how ever get very thursty. I work all day sipping on water to get past it, and I do just to wake up thursty again. But water is good. I slept all night last night for about 8 hours. When I woke up I managed to get out of the recliner hobble to the bathroom with no help at all. (personal goal). I did wake very thursty and a little nauseated. But I think it was from being sore, after I took my pain meds i felt 80% better. Well I need to get some rest, Until my next post :)

Well, my surgery date has come and gone. The day of surgery I arrived to the hospital. All ready to go and get this done. Well my insurance had another plan. They had not approved my surgery and required another stress test. Wow, more waiting. At first I was mad, upset, depressed..then I though this was meant to be. Maybe I did need to wait. Well from what I've heard, because the surgery date was right after a holiday it was for the better. docs took an extra day off, nurses were "floaters" and didn't even work at the hospital. So, I'm looking at this as the glass is half full. My new surgery date is July 21. So I'll just roll with it. Hey, i'm still smiling

Wow, in less than 24 hours, I will be post-op enjoying the pleasures of Morhpine. I can't believe how fast my surgery date came. Well I'm not totally out of the woods YET...Last Tuesday I went for my pre-op weigh-in and blood draws and Linda (Doc's insurance cordinator) told me I have 2 days to get my approval, and she doesn't believe that I will have time to get it. Uhh..what?! I was really upset. I had already lined up my time off work, family was coming in town, and my aunt took vacation to help me recover. I left the office and she said well lets wait and see what happens. ok fine, so later than evening United Health Care called and said that my claim would be approved either Wed. or Thursday. woohoo! Finally something going my way. So I waited for the call. Nothing. Thur. morning I decided to call my doctors office and see what they have heard. WELL...they had closed until monday (my surgery date) for the July 4th Holiday!! Here I go again. I called the insurance..closed, I called the office closed...I called the hospital to see if I could get my blood drawn and schedule..CLOSED! I did get ahold of the Nurse on call for my surgeon. She said "well unless they called you to cancel, your surgery is still on". So that is what I am going on right now. I could drive an hour to Dallas all packed for a 2 night stay for surgery OR i could have to turn around and drive home. I'll keep everyone posted. Meanwhile I'll sit here enjoying my Mag Citrate drink and the pleasures soon to come, i hear my stomach bubbling with joy right now

Hello, Well only 8 days until surgery date. Wow, I can't believe it!!! I have been on my liquid diet for a week now and almost down 15 pounds. Now I am just finishing up my pre-operative stuff and I'll be all ready for next Monday. The pulmonary exam was a piece of cake (yum!). I had to walk around the office hooked to an ox machine and do some lung exercises with an handheld device. All good. I heard back from my sleep study, well it appears that I stopped beathing 93 times in one night. WOW! And here I though the whole sleep study was bunk. So Tuesday is a VERY busy day. I have to have my final weigh in with my surgeon, pre op paperwork plus blood draws with the hospital, get my pre op medication filled, call all my doctors and make sure they have everything they need. THEN I have to pack and spend the night at the sleep lab to get my c-pap calibrated. whew! I'm going to need the 3 weeks off just to rest from all the pre op stuff. But I'm chugging along!
