My story - I wonder how much space I have ;) . . . then again my story is just like everyone else's.  I'm going to write it anyway because a) writing is supposed to be theraputic (an idea I can't seem to grasp) and b) as a reader I get a lot out of reading about everyone else.

I guess I'll start at the beginning . . . my first memory of using food to feel better was when I was a child.  My mom and grandma (who lived next door) were going to go shopping and I was told I could not go with.  I decided to hide in the back seat of my parents car, but they took my grandma's car instead :) My dad took me inside and gave me some ice cream.  [I just want to take a second here to say that I'm not blaming my dad or anyone else for my weight problem.  My parents did the best they could and always had my best interest at heart.  They didn't know I had a compulsive personality or that it would manifest itself in this way.]

Okay, anyway, I remember sneaking food as a child going for bike rides and stopping at the candy store on the way home.  Even then I felt an incredible amount of shame over this.  My first "diet" was when I was 8 years old.  My parents told me that I could get my ears pierced if I lost 10 lbs.  When I lost 5 lbs my parents took me for ice cream to celebrate.  Yikes!!

To be continued . . .
