The Introduction...

Jun 17, 2009

Hi folks, I am a 25 year old married woman with a 1 1/2 year old daughter. From adolescence, I have always had an issue with my weight. My mother recently had the lap band procedure done and is doing well. I've always been interested in WLS, my problem, like many others is insurance approval/ paying for it. My hubby and I are in the process of buying our first home this year, so I know I couldn't pay for it out of pocket. I work for BCBSFL, but they have any type of WLS excluded in the employee group. It just ticks me off that BCBS does pay for it for outside insurers. We employees dont get it. It makes me even angrier to know that my sister has been approved by another BCBS plan for the lap band, and she'll be set for surgery by the end of this year after all her conditions are met with BCBS. I weighed myself this morning after 4 months of doing the low carb diet and I just burst into tears. Instead of losing, i gained 20 more lbs. Its like a neverending cycle. The harder I try to lose, the more I gain. I've tried all the pills, diet fads, and programs known to man and the only one I actually lost on was Weight Watchers, but of course, as soon as you stop "counting points" or deviate from their plan, you gain all if not even more of the weight back. If I had the money to just spend, I'd sign up in a heartbeat, I'm just stuck right now and have no way of getting out. Boy, is it depressing.

Thanks for reading.....
