So far, so good

May 13, 2009

I got to start phase II the blenderized/ pureed foods on Mother's day.   I was so excited.  I was so tired of popsicles and jello.  The foods I've tried so far have stayed down.  So far,   I haven't experienced the whole dumping thing.  I hope I never will.  I've had broiled tilapia with cajun seasoning.  mashed potatoes with gravy, tuna sald, chicken salad both were mixed with lowfat mayo.  I've had different soups, cream of chicken, brocoli cheese, new england clam chowder.  So far milk has been fine also.  I know everybody is different.  I'm just suprised that so far I haven't felt sick on anything I've tried.   At the same time I haven't tried anything that I wasn't suppose to eat either.  I was tempted tonight to eat a chicken nugget from Mcdonald's.  I stopped myself.  If I figure out that it doesn't make me sick, then I will know I can eat them.  I don't want to screw up,  I haven't come this far for nothing.    Tonight for dinner I tried the canned chicken breast.  I heated in microwave with some shredded fat free cheddar, then I put hot sauce on it.  It reminded me kinda of a dish I love at the mexican restaurant my hubby and I went to before I had surgery.   I was craving mexican food, but I know I can no longer eat the way I use to.  This statisfied my craving.   I guess I will have to find creative ways to satisfy whatever I may be craving for the day.  Gastric bypass may reduce your stomach size but it doesn't take your tastebuds, cravings, or smell away.    I haven't tried anything that wasn't fat free, or anything that has been fried.  Even when I make my scrambled egg I make it in the microwave.  I'm afraid to try any kind of oil even olive oil for now.   I want to stick to these good habits so years from now I'm not sitting on my ass at an obese weight, thinking how did this happen again?
