My name is Crystal. I'm 31 years old, and have been obese for the majority of my life. I was an over weight child, and I remember "dieting" in middle school for the first time. You name it, I've tried it. My entire family struggles with obesity.

The only time I've ever been semi-successful was in 2010 when I joined WeightWatchers. My best friend and I both had babies early in 2009 and were weighing the highest we had ever weighed.  I weighed 288 lbs when I regisered. I lost 75 lbs, and then suffered a miscarriabe and started graduate school in 2012. WW fired our meeting leader, and we both completely lost our motivation. Over the next 3years, I have slowly regained the weight I lost. I'm now 2 lbs away from my starting weight when I started WeightWatchers. I'm so tired of it. I love to exercise, but at 286 lbs, it is usually painful and/or uncomfortable.

I want to set a good example for my 6 year old, and show him what a healthy relationship with food looks like. I don't want him remembering me as "the fat mom". I work as an APRN, a nurse-midwife, and I feel like a hypcrite when I discuss anything weight related with my clients. I want to enjoy life, and I want a healthy relationship with food.

I attended my first WLS seminar in March of 2015, only to find out that my health insurance had absolutely no bariatric coverage. The only WLS program within a 2 hour driving distance, the out of pocket price was through the roof and something I knew I couldn't afford at the time. Fast forward 7 months, and I happened across Alabama WLS and Dr. Les Miles. I'm paying cash for my outpatient VSG, which is scheduled 1/14/16, and I'm thoroghly excited about this opportunity to get healthy.
