Looking forward to Europe!

Nov 01, 2007

Ah, and to think there were times that I really didn't....
Fall of 2005 and Spring of 2006 come to mind.

I lost a lot of weight in my 6 month pre-op diet, so traveling by plane wasn't scary by the time I flew to Paris over Thanksgiving 2006.  But at my championship-heavyweight-of-all-time?  Fuuuuuck.  I actually booked my husband and I through New York just so we could get the little 2-seater row the whole way to Prague all to ourselves.  I didn't want to sit on the aisle and have the beverage cart knock my arm off every time it came by.  And sitting in the mushpot was out of the question.  So it had to be a 2-seater row or nothing at all.

Now I'll be flying truly normally.  No sucking in my stomach for all its worth to get the buckle done.  No lifting up the middle armrest involuntarily with my thigh.  Just.....flying.  Longhaul.  I'll even sleep well!

And then....

The scale started making me crazy again.  Had to shove it back under the bookcase.  Have been pretty good about keeping a food diary, though.  First time I can honestly say I've done THAT with any consistency whatsoever.... EVER.
I'm pretty happy.  BMI is officially under 40 now.  My face looks way skinnier.  I don't think I'll weigh again until the day I leave for vacation, though.  That's in mid November.  I'm just the kind of person that needs to see it registered in chunks.  Otherwise I get impatient.

So then I just HAD to weigh....

Oct 04, 2007

...you know, after getting into the jeans.  246.5, I think.  Now, I know I was a little dehydrated.  But even after I get my water back in I'm still going to be down a good 3, maybe?  Just eating less, really.  I don't buy this whole "starvation mode" theory, btw.  Whenever I've starved myself in my life I've lost weight.  Simple as that.  (Not that I'm "starving" now, but you get the drift.  Eat less, lose more.  Easy peasy lemon squeezy.)

New jeans came in the mail

Oct 03, 2007

Ordered some size 18 Gap jeans in the mail last week.  I figured it would be a few weeks before they fit.  But they came in yesterday, and I'm wearing them TODAY, mofo!   Now I'm going to have to order some 16s so I'll have some "inspiration" pants, because these suckers fit NOW!  Ha ha...up yours, Fat!
(May I please note that these are GAP jeans....not Lane Bryant or Avenue.  Thank you.)

Ok....speeding up a little now

It's true.  Just work the program and your stalls will end.  I really can't think of anything I'm doing differently now than I was a month ago, but the weight is coming off steadily.  Not dropping off in big chunks......just .5 lbs here, 1 lb. there, etc.
Well, there is ONE thing I'm doing differently now....back with my trainer doing weights.  Maybe that has something to do with it.  I love weights so much more than cardio.  Cardio sucks balls, but I know it must be done.
  So, as of today:

HW:  366
Consult:  288
Surgery Day:  283
Today: 251.8 (whatever day that was)
Today (10/5/07) 246.5

P.S.  Now editing this post in October.  I can't believe I ever got up to 366.  The highest, and I mean HIGHEST, I ever got up to previously was (recorded for eternity) 317.  That was before Atkins.  Atkins was really, really good to me.  But I eventually got off it.  I lasted 2 and a half years.  That's how I KNOW that without WLS, I'll never get there.  If you can't get there being totally faithful to Dr. Atkins.....WTF?

Slow mo fo

Shouldn't have expected the loss would be like a stone dropping through the lake.....still, I would have hoped for more.  But Dr. Nick says I can expect to be almost 100 lbs. down from surgery day after one year.  Who can argue with that shit?
Anyway, my jeans fit great and look mighty good on my 250lb ass.  I'll allow myself that.

Ooops there goes another $65.

I got my protein bullets off the internet, but for the rest of my special things I usually hit the health food store.  Case of Isopure, couple of 4 packs of Myoplex....you see where I'm going here.  I did get some soychips for the first time.  We'll see how they do.  Hope I don't eat them too fast!

My In-Laws are trying to SABOTAGE me!

Sep 04, 2007

Well, ok.  That's taking it personally.  And I won't!

It's just...and I've always been disapproving of this, dieting or not.... that there are no healthy foods to be had at my in-law's house.  I mean zero.

It's all fatty meats, starches and sugar.  No lean meat, and certainly no veggies (!) to be had.  It bothered me even at my "heavyweight of all time" stage....because I do like vegetables.  I mean, I really DO!  If they're smothered in butter or cheese, all the better.  *LOL*  (But I can certainly do without the fatty condiments.  Just give me a little salsa or at least paprika.)

Maybe it's that Gulf-coast mentality.  But I'm not going to buy into it.  And, as bad as hubby gets, I won't let him 'do that thing' either just because we're within the smell of sea-salt.  It's just not good for the body to eat all that meat and fat (& rice...WHITE rice, btw) and never spy a veggie.  It's just not right.

Well, of COURSE!

Of COURSE you weigh 4 pounds less naked on your home scale first thing in the morning than you do on the doctor's scale at 2 in the afternoon!

Couldn't stop myself.....

Had to do it!
Weigh, that is.  The surgeon's office is going to tomorrow anyway, so might as well get a heads up.  24 lbs. down since surgery day.  I'll take that.  Especially since I lost 20 more in the liquid diet in the 2 weeks leading up to surgery.  Where do people count their losses from, anyway?  It seems to be all over the map.
Ok.  So 45 lbs. since the first week of July....24 lbs. since 7/20.
Yeah, I'll take that.

I've been eating pretty normally.  I think I posted somewhere that I really never got around to the "puree" stage.  I guess I'm too lazy to wash the blender.  What I couldn't chew, I didn't do.  Needless to say, I really chew the hell out of everything I put in my mouth.  Even cottage cheese!  Did have a little bit of trouble with some cooked veggies the other day....not going in, but coming out.  Beware....
