Hi!  My story is pretty much the same as everyone else's:  I've been obese for too many years, and I am finally going to get the help i need through VSG.  I had thyroid cancer right before Hurricane Katrina severely damaged our home, at which time I found out I also had type II diabetes. After having my thyroid removed, I found it almost impossible to loose weight, & in fact, I started to gain. It feels good to finally be doing something about it!!!

I have three year old identical twin granddaughters, and I just want to be able to do simple things like playing with them without getting exhausted, and being able to get on the floor & horse around with them.  Also, I'm tired of being invisible! A friend of mine who had WLS five years ago told me that she knew exactly what I meant. Before her surgery she would go to Wal-Mart for groceries for her family every two weeks.  She would leave the store with two filled carts, but no one ever asked to help her, etc.  Now at goal, she has people jumping out from behind the bushes trying to help her.  She said that she, too, had felt invisible. Most of all, I want to reclaim my health - that is the biggest motivator I have right now.  I want to live!
