Little over 2 weeks post op

Nov 08, 2009

I'm a little over 2 weeks post op and feeling awesome.  I'm walking or doing my Wii Fit just about everyday. I'm on the mushie foods and finding that if I eat foods with the higher protein I am not hungry at all. Canned white chicken meat in water seems to do the trick for me. I have already lost 36 lbs. My next appointment is Nov. 16. I'm excited to see how I'm doing so far.

1 1/2 weeks post op

Nov 03, 2009

Well it's been 1 1/2 weeks since my surgery. I went to the doctors on Monday and he said I'm doing great. I was moved up to Stage 2 foods. So far so good. I'm liking the canned white chicken in water with a tiny bit of olive oil mayo. My nutritionist moved my shakes up to 8oz instead of 4oz and told me that I have to sip them REALLY SLOW. Since surgery I have lost 19lbs. 30 lbs all together from the pre op diet. Which is already more then I have ever lost with any diet plan. I'm excited and I feel great. I am trying to walk as much as possible. I'm doing my Wii Fit. And I have already gotten energy back. I'm starting to feel a little better about myself. I know that I have a ways to go but things are looking better Once I reach my goal I have already told myself that I am getting a make over. It's been many years since I could actually look at myself and feel confidence and accept the way that I look. I can't wait until I get there.

5th day after surgery

Oct 27, 2009

Well yesterday I decided to venture back to work. Since I work in a School and most of my duties are at the desk I thought that I would be ok. The day went great until the end. I started feeling very tired and my side started hurting again. So when I went home I crashed. And I decided that today I would take another day off and rest. Tomorrow I will try again.  I have been getting pains by my left rib cage. Kind of like a side stitch that runners get.  After careful consideration and help from others I think I have determined that it's either swelling, scar tissue, or gas pains. I do feel much better today. The pain in my left side is pretty much gone. I do feel the tugging of the port stitches today but it's not too bad.
I'm done 30 lbs since the start. I'm feeling much better although getting hungry. I'm on the liquid phase of the diet until I see my doctor on Nov 2. I had to add another protein shake because I was so hungry.  Ok so yesterday I cheated a bit and had 3 tbs of scrambled eggs and a tablespoon of Applesauce. Both went down very well.
I can feel the restriction of swelling going down and I feel as though I can eat just about anything. However I know that I'm not going to let the 'head hunger' get the best of me EVER AGAIN!!!

Day 2 after surgery

Oct 25, 2009

Things are getting easier as the days go on.  I found it to be best that you walk as much as you possibly can. Not only does it help to keep the gas moving out of your system (Yeah that does sound gross..lol) but it also helps prevent clots.  So today I think I will venture outside and walk up and down the street a little.  I'm still amazed at how I have to force myself to take in 4 ounces of fluid every hour and that I'm not the least bit hungry. But I know that if I don't force myself I will dehydrate and that isn't good.

Day after surgery

Oct 24, 2009

Well I'm home from the hospital. Yesterday Oct. 23 was my surgery. It wasn't as bad as I thought. Of course there is pain but as long as you move around it's not that bad. So far I was able to take down 1 oz of orange sherbert and 2 oz of protein shake. The amazing thing is I can't beleive that I'm not hungry. This is a new ball game for me. I'm amazed.

Big day tomorrow

Oct 22, 2009

Well tomorrow is the big day. I just got the call from the hospital. I have to be there at 9am. I stayed up late last night so that I was tired today and hopefully I will be able to sleep tonight.  I'm not nervous at all. I am however very anxious and can't wait to get this done.  I keep imagining what it's like to feel normal again. To be able to do things again. It's been many years since I was healthy.  I have to thank my family and friends for supporting me through my journey.
I'm all packed. I have been for 4 days now. Gosh you would think that I'm going in for a scheduled C-section tomorrow..lol.   I can't wait to start on the path to a new Life Style.

Getting anxious for Surgery

Oct 21, 2009

Well my surgery is October 23rd. I have to admit I'm not nervous at all about having the Lap band done. I think I'm more anxious about getting it done then anything because I have waited for so long to get it done. My insurance requires the 6 month waiting period.  So now that it's finally here I can't wait. Of course I won't be able to sleep tomorrow night.  Everyone is being very supportive in my family as well at work.  My co-workers gave me a bag of baby food today. They said their starting me on my journey for my second week that I can start eating pureed food. hah I thought it was funny.
My over night bag is packed for the hospital and I bought all the liquids that I need for when I come home.  And of course my protein shakes.  This pre-surgical diet is killing me though. But I have to keep telling myself, ONLY ONE MORE DAY!!
