A little scarey...

Aug 08, 2010

On Friday, July 23, I had a big problem with bleeding, unrelated to my surgery.  It was a scarey ordeal.  On Friday morning at around 1:30 a.m., I got up to go to the bathroom, but ended up on thrashing around on the floor.  I convinced my fiance that it was just the humidity and heat and I felt better.  Then, my 5:30 a.m., I had gone to the bathroom and realized that I was losing blood.  I was extremely weak and fainted (sort of) in the livingroom.  My fiance then rushed me to the hospital.  I ended up in the ICU that night because I had lost so much blood and they couldn't find the source.  I had 2 endoscopes and a colonoscopy.  In my intestines, I had an Arterial-Venous Malformation (AVM), which was causing the problem.  They burned out the offending blood vessels and my problem was fixed.  I was released from the hospital on Monday, July 26.  I am so thankful that I received the care that I needed in time.  I am still trying to recover from being weak and tired from all of the blood loss.  I am also experiencing some nausea just about every day.  At about 2 weeks after this ordeal, I am trying to return to my regular schedule....and I'm going to try to hit the gym after work today.
