The latest update!!!

Dec 10, 2009

Wow it has been 3 months since I last posted.  Well here's an update.  I have completed all of my nutrition classes, my last one was Nov. 4, 2009...Nicole Chase was so awesome.  Thanks!    I also had to go see the Cardiologist again to get an updated Cardio Clearance for the hospital.  He asked me if anything had changed, I told him no and he said that there shouldn't be any reason he can't clear me for surgery again.  So he did another EKG and everything was fine so he cleared me again right there in the office.

Let see, I had all my paperwork from all the necessary doctor's and classes so all we were waiting on the the six months to be up.  I went to Dr.Green's WLS seminar on Nov.11, 09 and I actually got a chance to talk to Dr. Green to find out what happens next. He told me that all they were wanting on was all on the required paperwork and then they should be calling me to schedule my surgery. So guess what...I officially have a date for surgery now...yippeeeeeeee.
My New Birthday will be Jan. 7, 2010.  Talk about being excited...well I am.  I have been fighting and fighting to get this surgery done for many years now and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I now when it get closer to my actually date, I will probably start to get nervous.  But that is expected with any surgery.  Alright then...I know that was a lot to take in.  But I will keep you all posted up until the big day.  Take Care!

Another update.

Sep 04, 2009

It's been a little while since I've posted anything so here goes the latest.  I had my 2ND Endoscopy and the ulcer had cleared up..(thank Goodness). So the doctor stated that he would give me a clearance for surgery...yesss.

So now I am just finishing up my last couple of nutrition visits and hopefully I will be getting a date pretty soon.  I have been faithfully taking my medication like clockwork and seeing my PCP to monitor things so that there is nothing (health-wise) to stop this surgery from happening.  The biggest part of all of this is the waiting.  But then anything worth having is worth fighting for..

When I last saw my PCP, he informed me that my labs came back and all my levels were low.  So I started my vitamin regime (multivitamin, B-12, calcium..all that good stuff) and I can actually say that I do feel a little better.  I have also been trying different protein shakes while trying to get use to some.  Some of them are gross and some of them are pretty good.   I have been learning a lot from my nutritionist about the things I will need after the surgery.  I just need to work on getting in more water.

That's it for now, I will post more when I get more news.

Just a lil update.

Jul 20, 2009

Well I found out that I don't have Sleep Apnea, but I do have small ulcer, so I have to take another Endoscopy in Aug.  I have been taking my medicine faithfully so that this matter can be cleared up in time for surgery.  I am now in my 6 month phase.  I am glad all the required tests are done.  Got one hurdle out of the way.  Well keep you posted.

1st Consult with Doctor.

May 14, 2009

Well I had my appointment with Dr. Green on 4/27/09. The meeting went well. He informed me that Medicare requires 6-months of a Medically Supervised Diet and a Nutrition visits. Man, I can't begin to tell you how many times I have completed 6 months or more of a Medically Supervised Diet, but hey we will see what happens.  And there will be some other tests that will need to be taken. His staff was real nice, especially his nurse Christina...she was very funny.  She told me that I should start getting my appoints for those needed tests in a week or two. So we shall see what happens.  But either way, I will keep you all posted.......

Finally found a PCP!

Apr 22, 2009

I finally found a PCP since having Medicare.  I went to the doctor on April 13Th, but because that doctor originally was to see was booked, another doctor saw me just to get me back on track with my medications.  And what do you guess...my BP was extremely high.  It figures, but at least I know have my medications.  I wasn't really fond of that doctor I saw, but so be it. That whole morning started out crazy, but it finally ended well with me having my prescriptions in hand....TTYL

A new start!

Feb 05, 2009

Wow, I cannot believe it has been 2 years since I have posted in here.  Well so many things have happened in two years.  Where do I begin?  Well last time I was here I was getting the run around behind Medicaid's decision on whether or not to cover WLS.  And right when I found a Dr. that accepted Medicaid, my coverage ended.  What a trip.   So in the meantime I went on.  Then about a month later I found out that I would be getting disabilty, but only the cash portion and not the medical.  Turns out I had to be on disabilty for 24 months before Medicare kicks in.

So during all of this, I manage to lose some friends behind some nonsense.  But you know what, I'm glad I have let go of that excess baggage, that's less stress I have to deal with now.  Good riddance..."HATERS".    It has been 2 years since all that has happened and I have moved on and gotten stronger..(like they say, what don't kills you only makes you stronger).    I have started my process all over again and I have been researching different surgeries to try and make a decision on what's best for me.  Not what others think I should do, but I think I should do.  In the midst of all I have gone through, I can't say that I haven't felt like giving up.  But I'm not a quitter, I kept going, and I will keep going.  Thanks to a few people that have been in my corner all the way.  A couple of them are from here.  I have read other profile's and have gotten some hope for myself.

I finally feel like I am closer than I have ever been in regards to having my surgery, because I have been on "Disability for 23 months and my Medicare begins MARCH 1,2009".         So like I say, I feel like I am closer than I have ever been to having this done.  Someone told me that "This is my Season and to get ready".  Well I am ready.

So I promise to keep you all updated on my progress so far.  Those of you that have been secretly praying for me, please don't stop, for as I will continue to pray for you my OH Family.

Thanks.....Dymone

Fighting with MEDICAID

Feb 15, 2007

I just wish Medicaid would make up their minds to cover WLS 100% like Medicare does. This fight with them is just as bad as my fight with BCBS, and they would not budge.  But the sad part is that most of these insurance companies seem like they would rather you die than have to cover something for you that will save your life.  I think they all sit back and play a game to see how many people we can lose, instead of trying to figure out how many people they can save.  I think all of them that don't cover WLS should take a good long look at the big picture, it's about saving lives people.....get with the program......uuuggghhhh!!!!!
