The Big Day!!!!

Jul 16, 2009

Ok so I woke up this morning and took my nephew to school to take a test. Came home and showered, and blowed dry my hair. I then woke up my daughters (grandma stayed with them when I left earlier) and got them ready for Vacation Bible School. Their MiMi is going to take them home and keep them for me.  I then went to Walgreens and came home and took my toe nail polish off.  Then my family and I left for the hospital.

I arrived and checked in that the registration and received my name band and then walked three flights of stair with my mom to the 3rd floor because she has a phobia of elevators. I checked in at the outpatient surgery and hung out with my family  and friends until they called me back. I used the restroom then when to my room, room 3. They had me sign consent forms and then I changed into my gown. Then they gave me a shot of heparin in my stomach; it had an after sting but went away after a while. They the started and IV and the anestesiologist came and spoke to me. She said it is the hospital policy not to give any of the medication until the patient is in the OR and is monitored on my monitors.

I arrived in the OR and they had me move to the OR bed. I talked for a few minutes and then I remember waking up in the recovery room. I was in SOOOOOOOOOO much main and nasueated. I even asked my self out loud "what the hell did I do" LOL. They gave me several nausea medications and morphine and it eased the pain but I was still hurting BAD!

I was moved to radiology and had to stand and walk I was hurting. I only had to swallow a tiny bit of the medication and I was actually loving it because it was my first drink in over 15 hours. I was taken back up stairs but the outpatient rooms. My family was able to come see me. By this time the pain was better. After the nurse confirm my lap band placement was good she gave me liquid pain medicine to drink and I was able to sip on 30 cc of water every 15 mins. Once I was able to go to the bathroom I was ready to go. Well they said I could go home but at that point I wanted to pay a $100 co-pay and stay the night LOL.

Left the hospital and my mom drove threw Sonic to get a bag of Sonic ice. Then dropped off my prescription and Walgrens. Once home I layed down on the couch and took a nap. I am feeling soooo much better. I do have pain at the opening under my breast because I have huge breast and weigh a lot and are sticking to my skin from the iodine. Plus the weight is pushing on my opening. I put on a sports bra to left them but the weight still hurts. The only other area that hurts in the tube that was placed in my left side to administer pain medication to the direct area. After 2 days it comes out.  Although it is uncomfortable I can handle it. I questioned myself in recovery but know I am doing so much better that I know it is all worth it.

To my suprise I do not have 8 incisions only 5. One on my right side, one in the center under my breast and the other three on my left. Not bad since I got the gall bladder taken out at the same time.

I will keep walking and keep posting. Thanks for all the prayers.
