Its so funny...

Mar 27, 2011

to go back and read your blogs from when this journey first started......almost 10 months post op now and almost a full 100 pounds gone and my life is now at my new "normal" as far as food goes.  I am in the gym almost every other day, thin, feeling very healthy and loving life.  It truly has been a journey and a learning process and I'm still learning every day.  I can eat something 10 times and be fine and on the 11th time it won't sit well and I will end up throwing it all up.  I have learned that throwing up is not as bad as some made it out to be...it actually is the best thing sometimes as it can end suffering from swallowing one damn bite wrong.   I have absolutely no regrets and even though I wanted to run out of the hospital the day of my surgery now I know it was meant to be and I love me .....for the first time in a very very long time ...I love me!  :)   Working toward running a 5k this summer....even though I will have some skin flapping in the wind behind me it will all be worth it!!!  :)

Update....

Dec 26, 2010

Since its been awhile since I've posted anything I thought I'd stop in and say hello!  Down 81 pounds now......which means I'm a lean mean 159 pounds....and lovin life.   Bought my first size 12 jeans in god knows how long...well back in junior high sometime lol....

I have another check up in Jan and curious to see how my labs turn out.   I will admit that I am good on taking my supplements but still not good getting all my protein in.   Honestly, its easier for me to eat anything other than meat....can't eat eggs - two bites and there goes all my food, milk cheese and yogurt are about how I get most of it in....plus I still drink a protein blitz every now and then.

still can only eat a little bit at a time or else i get sick too.....I'm at peace with puking now lol...before this surgery I'd honestly rather it come out the other end for days than puke just one time.  Now, its not such a big deal.

I still count my blessing as I have still not had any complications - have not seen a hospital since surgery :)

Bread is the only thing I miss - would love to have a good old fashioned pb and j on wonder bread lol.....or a big old yeast roll from one of the restaurants....but ....I remind myself if I could do that I would not be wearing cute skinny jeans so over all no regrets!!

Its been awhile....

Oct 22, 2010

since I have been on OH.....well, going on 5 months (Nov. 8th) and I must say I still do not have one regret.  The weight loss is starting to slow down ...well did lost two pounds over night last night but that hasnt happened in a long time.  I average a pound ever week and a half or so.....but down to 174.8 today and cant even remember the last time I weighed that much.  I am in the gym every other day now and feel healthier than ever....I love the gym!  I am up to running two miles and have started incoroporating weights too....need to start toning this new body!  I am still losing hair BUT its not as bad as I thought it was going to be....saw pics on here of people just losing gobs of hair and it scared me!! Thank god that is not the case for me...its pretty slight and NO, I am not taking anything to help...I just let nature take its course.   I am also starting to have more good eating days then bad.   I was still getting that stuck feeling with at least one meal a day and just this last week  - the last four days - not once did I have this feeling.  I was contemplating being stretched but glad I have waited it out.  Hopefully this is a new trend and things will get easier to eat.  Eggs still dont like me though...found that out this morning.  Still just sitting in my belly feeling like I swallowed a rock....but positive side - no stuck feeling! just a tad uncomfy.     I gave in and actually went and bought new clothes from an actual store and not a re sale shop or salvation army....couldnt believe it - medium tops and size 14 pants....NOW THAT FELT GOOD!!! I actually might start to like shopping instead of dreading it!!!   Well, time to run.....literally!  :)

Almost 7 weeks post op.....

Jul 24, 2010

And I must say I'm a tad bit frustrated....finally getting everything in, protein, fluids, vitamins....trying not to step on the scale every day and then went to the gym for the first time this week and then get the nerve to step on the scale again and guess what..I'm up a pound and a half ...WTH!!!  I am eating very healthy, better than ever, and thats what i get lol.....The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that I cant possilbly be the only bariactric patient that won't lose weigt lol.....some days it feels that way but its not going to be me!!!  I did go shopping today and fit beautifully in to a pair 18's!!  So,maybe I need to pay more attention to the inches and not the pounds????  I almost had my first time to puke last night too!!! It was so painful but the three dry heaves must have moved the food...no more lobster for me! Thought I was going to die!!! uuughh!!! I hate that stuck feeling...nothing worse, yet lol......

Three weeks post op yesterday

Jun 30, 2010

Return to work date 07/12 - guess Im happy about that ...gives me two more weeks of summer to enjoy recovering at home and then back to the reality of my life.  I am really hoping that the muscle pain that I have on my right side will be gone by then.....doc said yesterday to me if you saw what I did through that hole you would not be surprised why at three weeks your still experiencing some discomfort!  I thought it was kind of funny......He said it should be completely gone by 6 weeks...lets hope so....its not a horrible pain its more of an aggravation than anything!.....hopefully my fatigue will be starting to go away too.....still have to nap to get through my day!!

Starting to eat more normal foods now, string cheese sticks, greek yogurt, dannon light and fit, pintos and cheese, turkey chili, grilled shrimp, mashed potatos, steamed (over steamed lol) veggies, chicken salad, eggbeaters and cheese...all good stuff!!!  Doc said now is your time to start trying new things to see what you can tolerate and what you cant....so far everything has gone down good ...i had a few "stuck" feeling experiences but if I stood up and walked they seemed to go away..i just have to remember to chew more i think.....all in all things are going well.

25 pounds gone! feels good!!
