I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager!  I think I have tried every diet out there.....I was even a Weight Watcher leader for 10 years.........then I turned 40 and my metabolism changed, etc...When I reached 260 lbs. I knew I had to do something.  I did lose some weight on my own but I was so tired of the yo-yo dieting thing!  It is so discouraging!

I think it all came to a head is when my own mother's kidneys failed and we had to put her on diaylysis.  She needs open heart surgery but they won't due it because she is to risky of a patient. I seem to be following in my own mothers footsteps, which really scared me half to death!

I am 45 years old and my blood work has been showing things that are not very favorable to my well being and the only way to correct this was to lose weight.  So I decided to attend a seminar and decided then and there this is what I was waiting to hear.  Two weeks later I had the surgery.  My insurance company wouldn't cover the Lap Band surgery but my husband and I came up with the money for the procedure.  We felt my health was the most important thing.  You see I remarried about a year and a half ago and I really, really want to grow old with my new husband.......it took me many years to find the love of my life and I simply want to be with him as long as possible.  I knew I had to go forward with the Lap Band surgery for my own good.

I am a couple of weeks post op and I am doing great!  After a week on sick leave I am now back in the classroom teaching my 5th graders and couldn't be happier!  My bloodwork came back from my primary care physician and my triglycerides were 261 and are now 137 and the cholesterol reading also dropped.  I was at 228 and am now 182. I have lost 15 lbs. over the past two weeks and couldn't be happier.
