Insurance denial and new website

Dec 12, 2007

I'm maintaining a weight of 136-140 again. Most days I'm 138.

My insurance company has denied my claim for the bowel obstruction that happened in May, saying that it is a complication of a pre-exsisting condition (that is was caused by my gastric bypass).

The bill is US$50,000.

Fifty thousand dollars.

I weep every time I think about it.

I want to appeal, but I'm not sure how to go about it. How can anyone prove or disprove that the obstruction/twisting was a complication of the gastric bypass?

I've been working hard on an informational website for people looking into obesity surgery. I've put so much effort into it! I have lots more stuff I want to add to it, but I think it's off to a good start.

I suppose it's a little uppity of me to call myself a guru, eh? But the phrase sounded so catchy, I just couldn't resist!
