Well, hallelujah!! I fortunately stumbled across this site last night while playing with the internet on my phone.  You ladies are awesome and inspiring!  Once I found it, I think it was well after 2:00 am before I realized that I had one eye opened and that I had better give it up!  So, not a very good blog writer as many of you are, but I shall try.

After a year and a half, this process started in Sept. 2009 for me when I came to the realization that this weight was well on its way of getting the best of me. So that's when I sought out surgicial help. Drastic times call for drastic measures!!  Originally I just had my mind set on the lap band...then in March of 2010, I missed the 4th month appt. in the 6 month requirement part of this. UGH!!  I had to start ALL OVER!!! OMG...it was awful to say the least.  But, I had no choice, so began the beginning of another 6 months of visits to the PCP.  There was no trying to budge the insurance company!  In September of 2010, my husbands cousin had had the GBP a year before and was down 100lbs, and then his Aunt was having it done.  By Christmas of that year, she was down 50 lbs..WOW!! And by Christmas of that year, I gained another 45 lbs from the first time I ever met my surgeon. Not good!!  That was when I realized that I would need to switch gears, get serious, and really research this GBP for myself.....After meeting all the requirements in January of 2011, I was finally READY!! So I thought, the insurance company denied me, not once, but twice!! OMG...WHYYYY?!!!  At 350lbs, HBP, now needing cortisone shots in my knees, I just couldn't understand why they were doing this??!!! ALAS...after my family doctors, and the staff at my surgeons office submitted and proved the absolute medical necessity...I WAS APPROVED!! GOOD GRIEF!!

March 31, 2011 - That was the day, that I hope will change my life, to a healthier, gonna be around a little longer Jenn.  I know, from reading, books, blogs, support groups, that this is only a tool.  And that if I don't make serious changes in this year, it WILL come back.  I am 7 weeks out and down 50 lbs.  I cannot believe that I put myself so far behind the eight ball by gaining that much more weight from the first time I met with the surgeon, but it is what it is....and now, I look forward to being under 300! WOW!! I remember when I wished I could get out of the 200 "Club"...now it's the 300!  A long way to go, but it didn't come on overnight, and this is just the beginning.

Looking forward to reading more of your posts...we're in this together!! WLS PATIENTS RULE!!
