So I leave for Mexico a week from tomorrow. I have already started packing, I am so excited!!

What I am NOT excited about is this dang pre-surgical diet. Frankly, it sucks. Don't get me wrong, I am THRILLED it isn't 2 weeks of liquid diet. Only the last 5 days are liquid with my surgeon. But all the things I "can't have" seem to be teasing me.  I have never seen and heard so many references to Pizza in my life!! Commercials, mentions on tv shows, people talking about it on the radio, ads in my mailbox... its making me CRAZY!! I love my carbs, which probably explains things. And I love dairy. So what can I not eat: mainly Carbs, Dairy and anything with Sugar. Great.

"Please avoid:

1. Mango, pineapple, melon, banana

2. Cheese and regular milk

3. Do not add sugar to anything, including coffee, chocolate, shakes, etc.

4. Do not eat candies, chocolates, fried food and snacks or junk food

5. Do not eat pizzas, hot dogs, burgers, etc.

6. Do not eat bread, cakes, potatoes or pasta

7. Do not drink some beverages like gatorade, soda, energy drinks, etc.

Can I say I am SO sick of meat? I've basically been eating lunchmeat/pickle roll ups, plates of chicken or steak pieces, and fruit. I am so sick of everything I can eat. I want a freaking piece of bread. I would kill for a pizza! Oh what I would give for a slurp of Coke!

I know, I know. Its a small part of the bigger picture. I've also been trying protein shakes. Most are really nasty. I do however actually like the Chocolate Muscle Milk Lite premixed ready to drink boxes. They are 20 grams of Protein per 8oz box. Some of the others not only have been nasty (Atkins Advantage- gag- really chalky and only 15g Protein with 11oz of yucky sludge. and I believe the other brand was EAS- chocolate fudge- also super gross and chalky with a nasty aftertaste) but they are expensive too!  I got a 24 pack of the Muscle Milk Light at Costco for only $28, so hopefully I will still like them after surgery!

Oh- I also found out that GNC has a return policy on their protein powders. I think it was 30 days- if you don't like the taste, you can return it! I thought that was very cool.

Other than that, nothing new. I can't believe its only a week away!
