Well, its finally here!

I sit typing this in Mexico! Surgery is tomorrow!!! I can't believe its finally happening.

I admit, for a half second this morning I though, gawd, I don't wanna do this. I am a person of habit. Change and the unknown scares me. Flying to a foreign country where I don't know where am I, how things work or even speak the language- that's scary. But the flights were fine. I fit in the seats just fine (had to get a seat belt extender) but no problems.

Today so far I have had a bottle of Grape juuice and a bottle of water. The funny thing is I am not really even hungry. If someone walked in the room with a big ol pizza, I would scarf it all up (because I miss it), but in general, I'm not hungry. It's funny- the first 2 days of the liquid diet were terrible. The first night I actually went to bed crying because I was so hungry. But yesterday and today have been no problem. In the past 36 hours I have consumed about a liter of grape juice and a couple liters of water and 250ml of drinkable yogurt. I miss the food mentally, but physically, I'm ok.

So for those of you starting the liquid diet soon- I promise it gets better after the first couple days!! Hang in there!

Luz (Dr Ungson's assistant picked us up at the airport. She showed us the hospital and dropped us at the hotel. The hotel is nice, but yes- the beds ARE hard. I paid for the room with my atm card- no issues. It was a little disconcerting signing the slip for "$876.16", but thats Mexican, in US Dollars, about $63.  They came in and put on pillow tops on the mattress, doesn't really help. But other than that, the room is nice. We may go swimming a little later. It is pretty hot out (although Luz assured me it was not hot, just warm- ha!) and HUMID!  She will be picking us up at 6am to check into the hospital.

So hopefully by this time tomorrow I will be switched! Woo hoo!! I am nervous and excited and hopeful and anxious.
