Well, my story is a familiar one. I was a skinny kid until puberty then all hell hit!!! My weight increased with 3 pregnancies with taking most the weight off until my 40's. I hit menopause and forget about it, I gained and ate myself silly. I hit a alltime high of 245 in May 07. I had a friend who was extremely successful with the Lap Band and decided that this procedure was for me. I went to Mexico and had the sugery in May 07. I immediately contracted a staph infection which effected the port. I then decided to get a local Doctor to help me through the ordeal because flying to Mexico was not an option anymore. I found Dr. Wiljon Beltre in Altamonte Springs, Fl and he managed the care of the infection. Unfortuneately, the infection continued until he had no choice but to remove the band. I had lost 50 lbs in 4 1/2 months and loved the band, it was perfect for me, but Dr. Beltre felt I suffered to much scar tissue and reccommended the old "lean cuisine" and "personal trainer" program. 6 months out and I have gained back 20 lbs and
my health in going down again and my feet hurt AGAIN. I spoke with him about the sleeve and he agreed that this procedure would be better suited for me. I have some reservations but know I cannot do this on my own. I have gone through the preliminary work and am waiting for a surgery date which I anticipate will be late April. I am very excited and look forward to meeting the goals that I have wanted to achieve.
