Dream

To make a dream come true, one must have a dream, believe in it, and work toward it. Often it is essential that another significant person believe that the dream is possible: that person is a vision carrier whose faith is often crucial."

Have A wonderfully blessed day.

If what you're doing isn't working, then try something differen

Hello to all.  I know that change comes with challanges, but it is how you deal with them is what counts.  I've had a difficult times these last couple of days with old habits.  It's a constant struggle to uncondition myself and not to resort to the "old me".  I've been tempted to eat just because and not for being hungry or it's time to eat.  Lately it's been late at night.

Since My Lap-Band surgery in August I've done extremely well for myself and self control was not an issue for me at first.  I'm terrified at resorting to how I was and try to avoid old eating habits as much as possible.  I know it's all about self control, and doing what's most important for me.  Which is to use my tool to the fullest and lead a healthy and productive lifestyle.  I refuse to become what I was three months back. NEVER, EVER AGAIN!

So on Friday I'm going back in to have my Lap-Band filled again after two weeks.  I know that this may sound extreme, but I want my band tightened to the max, especially since I have to pay out of pocket @ $175.00 per fill.  Yeap you seen right, $175.00.  I'm proud of myself for losing 57 pounds in almost three months and set a goal for myself to lose at least 15 pounds each month which to me is a realistic goal.

I've attended support group meetings and also have attended nutrional and physiological meetings also.  They are essential for me in order to maintain my weight loss and my sanity.  It does help to talk to other who struggle through the daily struggles as I do.  It tells me that I'm not alone and can be supportive for me in many ways.

I have to remember that is all about self control and that I have to utilize my tool to my advantage.  I know now that it's alright to have a bite of something sweet, but using control is key.

Having Lap-Band surgery (Life Changing)
Losing 57 pounds  (Wonderful)
Seeing look on people faces after losing 57 (Priceless)

Getting Smaller

Sep 30, 2007

It has almost been two months since I've had Lap-Band surgery.  All total I've lost 57 pounds and I feel absolutly wonderful.  My cloths are hanging off me and getting lose.  It feels great to be able to wear four dress size smaller.  My hands feet are shinking and the swelling has completely gone.  Yea!  I know that I have a long way to go, but I am no where near what I used to be.

My husband notices the changes that have occured with the weight loss.  He was like "Here's the Lady G that I used to know".  I feel more confident and am actually feeling like a woman again. WATCH OUT WORLD!!!!!

Despite being a "big girl", I have always had curves and shape to my body but just more of it.  Now the curves are still there but just alot less of them.  My butt is even shrinking which is a good thing.  I don't want to lose my butt completely, but want it equal to my size and shape.

For my 38th birthday, I orded a dress that was four dress sizes smaller than what I
used to wear.  I went to this cool webiste that caters to plus size women called "IGIGI".  They are a little pricey but usually have great sales from time to time.  So anyway, my dress arrives via UPS and I try it on later that day and was like "Whoa"it fits.  When my husband saw me dressed for the evening of my birthday he was all smiles.  I had a fabulous evening at a local Jazz club called the Blue Room.  I was able to walk in confidently and feel like the old me did.  Thank you Mystro for a wonderful 38th birthday.

I went for my first Band fill on the 19th of September.  I was strange to see the actual procedure on screen taking place.  I was given Beriliam and then drank water and watch the fluid travel downward.  My doctor then inserted the needle into my stomache and found my port.  It was an intial stick which felt like more of a pinch and she then inflated my band.  She then adjusted my band till I felt full after taking several swallows of water.

It was all over and done in about ten minutes.  Proir to having my band filled, my doctor explained to me that I may have to have another fill in order to achieve the desired results that I wanted which was to fill full with less food.  My appetite is back and my fear is eating too much.  But I have applied the three rules to Lap_Band surgery which are as follows:
1.  Eat small bites, the sized of a dime.
2.  Chew, chew, and then chew again.  Make sure
you get your protein in first.
3.  And finally never, ever, ever eat and drink at
the same time.  It's the cardnial rule.

So I'm doing well, but I know that I will need my band adjusted.  My next appointment is this Friday and I will speak with my doctor about getting my band as tight as allowed.  I didn't have this surgery for nothing, and refuse to ever gain weight again and be in the same situation ever again.
