Latrisha, I read your profile today and was SO EXCITED to find Dr. Aguirre! I think my prayers have been answered--I have temp agency type insurance and it pays toward WLS, but not enough. I have been to all three bariatric surgeons in our area, and not ONE of them is willing to accept the $2500 that my insurance DOES pay toward surgeons fees and make arrangements on the balance. Well, I have saved some money, and I have kind of developed this weird resentment towards them. Each and every one told me this surgery is medically necessary, and one even went so far as to say I would die 12 years sooner without it. So, being the great "American" Drs. that they are, why do they make me wait? We are not rich people, and I would rather give our precious savings to someone who actually cares. Dr. Aguirre sounds wonderful--I am going to call his office in the morning. There won't be any problems with the language--I'm not great at it, but my husband is puerto rican. He can be my translator if need be! Thank you so much for giving me hope again! Take care and God bless, Suzanna

You are a god send. After reading your profile, I feel confident that I have made the right choice to go to Mexico to have the surgery with Dr. Aguirre. I have booked a surgery date for October 17!

Wow Latrish you took some time getting all of that down. You and I started out close to the same size, a little on the light side for US WLS, but I'm with you, it was only going to get worse. I had a lap RNY with Dr. Zorrilla in Monterrey, Mexico on 7/4/03. I found him to be more approachable than most US doctors, but still you have made me jealous with how much you rave about Dr. Aquirre. Also Dr. Zorrilla's price is 12.5 K But that's fine I am glad I had it done and I am doing great. I believe Dr Zorrilla does the procedure like you said, a complete separation and the intestine coming in at the natural place. He showed me a power point but I wasn't looking for that info at the time but I am pretty sure he showed the two stomachs totally separate. He does the Fobi pouch. So, I would think to get that band around the new stomach, it would have to be separate from the old stomach. I fell in love with Monterrey, Mexico too and now I really want to tke the whole family back there. My PCP was impressed with how good everything looked too. He is going to take my drainage tubes out Monday and I'll be glad to be rid of them. -- Joanne VanNess

LATRISHA~~ Thanks for continuing to provide information about surgery in Mexico- Although I have already had my surgery, I know that there are many people who will find this as an alternative that they can afford. Please keep providing that valuable information

Latrisha, CONGRATULATIONS on your WLS!! You're on your way!! Isn't is exciting? Take it easy, walk, water, 'scuse me, PROTEIN FIRST, then water veggies, etc. Not now,you know. Good Morning Everyone! I just wanted to stop by and tell everyone that it has been 5 weeks since I had surgery with Dr.Aguirre in Ensenada,Mexico and I feel "GREAT" I could not ask for anything more! Everyday I feel Better and Better. Also, Racheal is having her surgery with Dr.Aguirre on May 20th and asked if I would go with her, I talked to my husband about it and he told me to go and have a great time. So, I'll be flying into Palm Springs,California on May 18th and Racheal and I are going to drive to Ensenada,Mexico from there on May 19th, we will leave Ensenada,Mexico on May 28th and I'll fly back to Pensacola,Florida on May 29th. I'am so excited it feels the same way as it did before I went to have my surgery. I'am so excited to finally get to meet Racheal we have become really good friends! I just thought I would share that with everyone! Have a WONDERFUL day!!!!!!!!

I am very excited about my surgery. I have a surgery date with Dr. Agguire in Mexico on June 4th surgery on the 5th. Thank you Latrisha and Lisa F. This site is so informative and reasuring. I look at it every day to hear any news about how you all are doing. I feel like I am obsessed with the internet because of this site. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
