Cheese

Feb 05, 2010

Hi everyone.  Our good friend Hercules and I have been discussing cheese since I came home from hospital; I found something a bit surprising in a book I have, here it is for all those of you who are interested :

This is from my nice cheese book I bought while living it up in Belgium, The Cheese Primer, a fairly new and exhaustive tome:

".......Although cheese does contain plenty of fat, there are a number of misperceptions about what type and how much is present........Density makes a difference. Due to their higher moisture content, soft cheeses such as Brie are actually lower in butterfat than either semisoft cheeses like Gouda or Fontina d'Aosta or hard ones like Cheddar or Parmigiano=Reggiano...."

Hi!

Jan 24, 2010

to my new friends:

no matter what I try, I can't upload an avatar -- it keeps saying all my pics are too big! But anyway, for those of you who are curious, I began an album. I sure don't have a lot of recent pics of me, but you can see me packing on the pounds when I was living in the land of cheese, pate and champagne 2 years ago!

To my dear Canadian friends on OH, is this true? I read it on Facebook just today. Weight is one thing -- "The Weight" is quite another. Way to go if it's true, Robbie!

Robbie Robertson

Robbie Robertson is going to be on a Canadian postage stamp.
