My story….Well it probably doesn’t differ much from everyone else’s story.  I was born and raised here in eastern Ontario.  Had a very normal childhood but I was always a bit on the heavier side……big boned as they say.  I was very active from an early age.  Played every sport under the sun.  I was perfectly healthy even though I was a overweight.  My weight started creeping up once “real life” set in.  After high school, my life became pretty much structured around post-secondary studies, marriage and work.  Time for exercise and leisurely activities were far and few in between and only got worse as time passed. Obviously being born in a family plagued by Diabetes didn’t help.  I was diagnosed with Diabetes as a teenager.  My weight and health were all over the map throughout the years.  It has always been a constant struggle to overcome the lack of energy, depression and health issues associated with my weight and diabetes.

My decision to proceed with bariatric surgery was very hard for me.  I was scared about the surgery, the changes that were going to happen inside my body but mostly scared about the life change and health issues that could arise from it.   That being said, I decided that this surgery could probably save my life or at least prolong it so that I could have a better quality of life.  I'm looking forward to having a second chance at rebuilding my life in a positive way and do my darnest to achieve what I never could do in the past!
