So excited and nervous! Just got a call from the hospital and I have to check in at 5:15am for my 8:00 surgery. Here we go!!

I am leaving tomorrow afternoon for my trip to Seattle since my surgery is early Friday morning! It is so funny, I went from being totally nervous for this surgery to feeling much more calm. Thank you Jesus! I know this is the right decision for me, and I just have to put my hopes and my fears in God's hands. I am going to pack tonight and would like to know what you all think I should bring not only to the hospital, but also for the week following when I get out. Since I live 2.5 hours away from the hospital, they make it mandatory for me to stay in Seattle 4 days after they release me. So my friends, what should I pack? What helped you the most?
 I also just wanted to say thank you to all of the wonderful people I have met on here who have written the nicest and most encouraging things, and also to those I have talked to by phone. This is one of the biggest things I have ever done and your words of support mean so much! 2 days...can you believe it?!!!

So in four days, my life will change for the better...forever! I am so nervous that it is hard to sleep, or even get in my three protein shakes a day. I am also extremely excited as I have been waiting for this for what seems like forever. It is so hard to think that in 1.5 to 2 years, and a lot of hard work, my excess weight will be a thing of the past. By the time I am 30, I will actually be a "normal" size! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers during this week and the following weeks to come. I am praying specifically for no complications as I am a self pay and insurance does not cover the surgery or any complications from the surgery. Thanks so much everyone!

I am so worried and frustrated right now! My surgery date is in 6 days, and I have been on the low calorie protein shake and lean cuisine diet for almost three weeks now and have only lost 13 pounds! WHAT?! I am so dumbstruck right now! I feel like I am starving and yet I am not losing hardly any weight. I wanted to lose 30 pounds before my surgery date! I am worried that I have not lost enough weight and they will postpone the surgery, even though I was never told how much weight I could expect to lose with this. Has anyone else gone through this? I am so disappointed and worried!

Auughhh I am soooooo sick of these protein shakes. I can barely drink them, and then want to throw them up they taste so bad. I would rather not eat (excuse me...drink) anything at all. I know I cannot do this however b/c I need the protein and the calories. I have my surgery in 10 days and still feel like I need to lose like 15 pounds so that the lapriscopic will be successful. I hate that they never told me how much weight I could expect to lose on these shakes that I have been on for 3 weeks. Anyone else feel this way?? I am going to invent a protein drink that tastes GREAT after I am feeling better! (ok, well maybe not....but if I was smart enough I would to spare everyone else this agony!) ;-)

Hi everyone. I am so excited to have found this support system, and really hope it helps to not only motivate me, but also to lift my spirits on those hard days. I am having a RNY operation on July 30, 2010 and am scared to death, but also excited! I am diabetic and have been on an insulin pump for the past seven years. My biggest questions and fears right now are, how much pain can I expect the first week after surgery, is there a protein drink that won't make me gag (I hate the Whey ones!), and if you had to do this over again, would you? I am a self pay for this, and 50,000 is a lot for a teacher, so financially speaking, I am desperate for this to work as well. Thanks for your comments all!
