I am mother of 1 boy(22) and 2 girls (20and17). I was always a tall skinny kid. Around the age of 30 I started suffering from depression and the weight started to pile on partly because of medications and partly from busy lifestyle. Now that my kids are out of the house I find myself alone and in failing health due to my obesity. I was as close to diabetic as you can get without being diagnosed. Four years ago I had to start wearing a CPAP for sleep apnea. In the passed year I was diagnosed with asthma.
Last February I began to exercise. Even though I spent hours at the YMCA several times a week I was not seeing significant results. I tried eating healthier but hunger always got the best of me.
At my highest weight of 272lbs I decided to ask my doctor to get a referral for Lap Band. I soon discovered that Lap band is frowned upon by the bariatric surgeons. I learned about the VSG and decided with my surgeon that was the best option for me.
The best decision I ever made.
