I have struggled with being overweight since I was 11 years old. I'm 24 and I just just graduated from college. I am finally at a point in my life where I feel like thinks are going to work out and this has been a long time coming. The decision to have weight loss surgery was not an easy one to make and when I told my parents about it their initial reactions were supportive but hesitant. They were scared for me but love me and respect my choices. That was 2 years ago. That’s when I mentally decided that this was the tool I needed to help me change my life and live my life. But things just never worked out. I had to switch insurances and I was away at college for the last three years so it never came together for me. Luckily now I am home and I have jumped back into the bariatric program with Kaiser. So a bit about my stats. I am 5’10” and My highest weight was 313lbs. My doctor set a goal weight for surgery at 285lbs (according to their scale, not mine) So for the past 3 weeks I have been on a pre-op diet of 1,200 calories a day. I’m so close to the goal that they are having me do the pre op testing next week. I’m pretty excited but nervous.
