I decided to pursue surgery to take control of my health. My big motivator is my fast-approaching 40th birthday! Given my family history and my own health status and personal co-morbidities, I fear that I am slowly killing myself with food. For far too many years, I have been over-indulgent and at times completely out of control. I have a terribly unhealthy relationship with food, which needs to be restructured and relearned. I believe that RNY gastric bypass will be the tool which will give me the greatest chance of a long and healthy life. I have total confidence in my bariatric program and my surgeon, Dr. Zografakis.
I am working through this process one day at a time! I know it will not be easy and I hope to use this site to connect with other WLS patients, to seek support, and to stay educated. I also hope that documenting my own experiences and thoughts/actions will both keep me personally accountable and perhaps help someone else along the way.
