Wow, I really don't know where to start.... let's see, I'm 37 yrs. old and I've pretty much been over weight since i graduated High school. (180lbs) I became disabled with a back injury in 1996 and after under going 4 back operations I continued to gain even more weight until I reached my highest of 311lbs.
I eventually was able to become more active and watched what I ate and dropped down to 240lbs. Then my life changed dramaticaly in 2004 on April 1. I was hit head on by a fuel Tanker truck and it's only by the Grace of God I'm alive to day. After a 2 month hospital stay and a month of rehab I was sen home in a wheel chair due to having my pelvic crushed and left hip broken. among other injuries.
As you would guess that Accident left me again unable to be active and in constant chronic pain. still unable to return to any type of job. it also cost me my marriage of 6 yrs. anyway, I've thought about having weight loss surgery for several years because my pain management dr. had brought it to my attention that getting the weight off might be the only thing tha would take care of my sevrere back pain. but, at that point i was too afraid and wasn't well informed of the surgery.
Now since I'm still living in such sevrere chronic pain and on so much pain medication from my injuries, and unable to lose the weight on my own, I made the descion to go throught with the RYN.
I feel like this is the right time in my life to get this done and make things btter for myself and I'm praying that getting this weight off will allow me to regain my life back and be able to re turn to some type of employement. When I started this process 4 months ago I weighed 285lbs. While being on a supervised diet I have lost down to 247lbs. which I am so very trilled about.
a little over a week ago I started the pre op liquid diet and in the beginning it was rough. Now that I only have 5 days until my surgery it has become alot easier. It's all pretty much a mind game. lol
