Harper Hospital (Cori Center)

"From the point i talk with the security guard and the information desk staff to discharge, I was impressed with the respect, postiive attitude and helpfulness that i experienced throught my stay. Pre-admission testing was well organied and completed in a very timely way. Upon my return two days later, (when told to arrive at 4:30 am) i unfortuanately found that the front doors were locked and no one was around--this was the only unsettling part of process. I wish that i had known ahead that there would be no valet parking at 4:30--and how best to enter the parking structure as it was very difficult to find someone to let me in. But once i got in--it was smoth sailing...........preop went well the nurses were just wonderful....skilled professional and so willing to help and calm! Anesthesia put me out of my misery early-so that helped me get settled! i assume the OR staff did its job as i have had no infections, and have just done so well! I hate to tell the recovery nurses that i have no memory of them....but i know they took good care of me........and the floor was great-very responsive--on time with meds etc, professional and just the best--which is high praises coming from an old nurse! :) I would recommend Harper to anyone having WLS----it was the ideal environment! and i have recovered without a hitch! thank you so much...rae "

"I met Dr. S at the CORI warren office first at the small group session that was provided to all the patients coming to see him that day, and then during the actual individual meeting with him. He explained things well and listened to the questions that people asked him. The individual visit was short--but i guess he figures by the time you make it to him so many other people have asked you questions, that you would have been weeded out! grin The office staff has been very nice and supportive--although i didnt realize when i came for my appointment with him that there would be a group session first and that would have helped me to know that in planning the rest of the day. Chuckie was great setting up the surgery--worked around some issues i had. I am hoping that after the surgery there will be reinforcment about after care. The notebook with explanations was great--i was surprised how many other places dont provide that type of resource for their patients...So far i am very happy i chose Cori and Dr. S and that i got Jen as my PCC! with regard to bedside manner and competence.......i would like both-----but if it comes to the point of dying.i will be happy to have a grump at the other end of the knife as long as she/he knows what she/he is doing! Being an educator of medical students and residents, I have a firm belief that both are necessary----there is no reason for someone not to have a good bedside manner unless she/he does not value it. Glad Dr. S does!"
