Here is a brief description of my history that has brought me to this site. I have stuggled with weight all my life and unfortunately was diagnosised with polycystic disease of the kideneys when I was pregnant with my twins 22 years ago. Two years later I was pregnant with our third child it was discovered the disease had spead to my liver causing it to enlarge +++. Eventually I had to have half of my liver removed due to the cystic tissue. Ten years later my liver began to fail as the cystic tissue had taken over most of the good tissue. I was born with this disease and it was to be herditary but there is no history in my family...just like there was no history of twins!! In July 2003 I under a liver transplant which failed due to a clot and was blessed to be able to have another one done immediately...an angle was with me that day! I had complications in the preparation for the second transplant and under went a cardiac arrest and an emergency thorocotomy to repair a tear in my superior vena cava as I was loosing the blood they were pumping into me just as fast as it was going in it was coming out! I am a fighter and surprised everyone and made it through. As a result of the transplant I have become diabetic due to my antirejection drugs and have several other co-morbidities. I have made the decision that if I want to extend my life span I needed to do something about my weight that I have tried and tried to loose. It is now provent that this is a recognized method not only to loose weight but to treat diabetes sucessfully and to live longer and that is my goal...improve my life!
