 Today is six months since I had RNY on 3/16.  In those 6 months I have lost 133 pounds and went from around a 70 BMI to a 42!  I dropped an additional 38 pounds pre-op.  Still a ways to go but I know Ill get there.  I feel fantastic and so full of life now.  I used to struggle to walk a few blocks.  My back would start aching and get short on breath.  Now I walk 3 miles a day as hard as I can push it.  Ive also booked my first ever trip to Las Vegas in a few weeks.  No worries hopping on a plane anymore!  Life is great.

3.5 more one.  28.5 total.  Doing the 60/6/60 pretty well.  Feeling great.  Dr. gave me the ok to start swinging the golf clubs again.  Just cant go John Daly right away.

3rd week out an down 5 more.  25 since surgery.  Seemto be hitting a little stall in week 4.  We'll see how that shakes out.  Not going to sweat it.  Just keep eating right n walking.   Really have golf fever.  3 more weeks till Im cleared. uggghhh!

Today is two weeks since surgery.  Im down 20 pounds snce that morning.  Qute pleased with that.   The two weeks of liquid diet has been really easy.   Since coming home from hospital Ive had no problems geting in at least 60g of protien and 60 oz of water. 

I havent taken any pain medication since returning home and I really feel great considering I recently had major surgery.  Im to the point where I have to remind myself that Im still not healed and cant do certain things.  Sitting around the house gets boring at times.  Ill be heading to work tomorrow after being out for two weeks.  Not real excited about that but it wll pass the time easier.

I gosee the Nutritionist today for my two wek follow up. Ill be moved on to a purrifed diet.  Im not quite surewhat Ill get to eat no but Im nervos about it.  Ive only puked once so far and that was in the hospital when I swallowed 4 pills at one time!  Old habbits are hard to break.  Im worried about moving on to foods now and having issues holding it down.  Ill plan on just a protein shake for lunch at work tomorrow until I know how to handle foods!

Had my surgery on March 16th.  Eveything went as planned.  No surprises which was my biggest fear.  I had complete faith in my surgeon or Id never let him work on me.  I was just worried about what else might show up. 

Once I moved to the operating table.  I got strapped in and the anathesiologist put a mask on me, thats all I remember till 5 hours later when I was in my room.  I dont even remember the recovery room.  Stayed pretty drugged up on morphin till Wed evening.

On Wed evening  and Thurs morning I was up doing laps around the hostpital. Feeling pretty good even though my energy would fade quick.  Saw the Dr. Thurs morning and he said I could be released after some blood work.  Got that done and some bad news.  My potassium was way too high.  Was told Id hae to stay one more night.  Fun Fun, they called the IV nurse back to get another needle in me.  Ive never been stuck so many times in one week.  I ended up with 3 IV's before I left.  Only one of those were hit the first time.  The other 2 took 2 tries.  I got injected with some medicine to reduce the potassium.  By now pain was pretty low and I made it through the day and that night with no pain medicine.

Froday morning, gave more blood.   Tests came back great.  Dr. came in and I was on the way home within an hour.  Told the nurse the human pin cushion was rolling out!

Was nice to crawl into my own bed Friday evening but I didnt sleep well.  Im a side sleeper and whil I could get on either side without pain, I jsut never could get comfortable.  Doing pretty good with the 60/60/60.  60 oz water, 60 grams protien and 60 minutes walking.  The walking is a little lacking, I can do it in 15 minute spirts though but I wear out fast and need rest.  I think in a few days Ill get this with no problem.

Went in Monday (3/12/2010) and had another EKG at the Heart Center.  The Dr. said it was a little abnormal but nothing unusual for some one of my size.  He still wanted an echocardiogram to be performed to make sure.  On Tuesday I had that done... then the wait continues and I wait for results.  I called them on Thursday and they still havent reviwed the results.  Later that day my surgeon's office called asking about it.  They ended up getting the actual test sent to them for my surgeon to review.  On Friday I called the Cardio again, still no one had reviewd it.  I mentioned that it has to get do today because Im setup for surgery next week.

Finally I call back at the end of the day Friday because I STILL had not heard anything.  The testy was reviewed and everything was fine.  I was clear for surgery.  Why in the hell didnt they call me??? uggh.  I was really impressed with this center for everything they did except delivering the most important part... the results.   I may still write them a letter as I had planned.  It was one of my most pleasent office visits ever until I had to wait for the results.

Im all set for surgery on 3/16 now.  Very excited and a weeeeeee bit nevous!

Went in on 3/5 for my order appointment.  Everything went smooth.  Was a little shocked at the medications to take for the surgury.  Some antibiotics, nausea patches, reflux pills, hibicleanse, magnesum drink(a laxative. yey).  If this all helps keep me safe, Im all for it.

From there I headed to the hospital to meet with the anesthesiologist.  Sign in at 9:50 for my 10 o'clock appointment.... around 10:30 I start getting aggrivated.  By 11 my batteries are wearing down from playing games on my iphone... so I head in and make sure they knew I was still out there.  I was fuming by then but stayed calm with the lady.  Magically a few minutes later Im called in.  She went over my papers and did vitals.  My blood pressure was now 165/80.  It was 130/80 2 hours ago ... yeah I was pissed! 

Then I had to do an EKG which I wasnt expecting.  I lay down and a lady hooks up all the pads.  Then she prints a page and says something is wrong and goes to grab another lady.  She noticed my feet were on the wall and had me move bad on the bed.  then talked to me, had me close my eyes and relax... then they retested.  I guess it was better but somethign still off.  the anesthesiologist recommnded a Cardiologist look at it and they would call me and let me know if I needed to go back in... sur enough I got a call a few hours later and have to go back Monday.  Still no clue whats going on!

Hopefully it was due to me getting angry, then the first EKG tester gave me ZERO instructions. I didnt even know she started the test!!  The second lady did fine but by then my pissed off meter had reached 10!  Im praying that was the cuase of whatever is showing up wrong... Ill find out tomorrow.

Finally setup. March 16 at noon.  Seems odd doing it at noon.  Hope they all eat an early lunch!  Such a relief to have made it this far.  Looking forward to getting this going.  Dont have to do a 2 week liquid diet either.  Jsut strongly encouraged to start eating well and have a "no white" type diet plan to follow.  No weight goal to achieve before surgery just I cannot come in with a weight gain! I figure I can drop 10-15 in 3 weeks so thats my goal.

It was Dec 6th when I made my mind up to have this surgery.  Its been a wild ride and took much longer than I expected jsut to meet the pre-op requirements.  Just to get my initial visit with my surgeon took a month.. since then Ive busted ass to get everything done.  Insurance approval was submitted on 2/09/10.  I gave them a few days before bugging them.  Ive had to call and harrass my PCP and the psyc to get things moving.  Figuring the same with insurance I called them a little before closing on a Friday 2/12/10.  The nice lady said I was approved. I was in shock.  In the silence she asked if I needed anything else. I said yeah, one thing. When was approval.  She responded well it was today.  So submission on Tuesday and approval on Friday.  I dont think my surgeon even knows... Ill be calling them Monday to set my date.

You think Obamacare would get me approved that quick?  Shhheetttt.. ok not getting into politics.  Ive worked very hard in my career to get where Im at and have a very nice insurance policy and I refuse to go quietly and let Obama try to take that from me... BTW. I have united Healthcare.

Such a weight taken off my shoulders today.  Im well on my way to getting life back and living it to the fullest!
